News: Loudoun County Offers New Homeless Prevention Program

(Aug. 29, 2012) - While Loudoun is one of the richest counties in the United States, there are those locally in need and with that ion mind the Loudoun County Department of Family Services is administering a new program aimed at preventing homelessness in Loudoun.


The Homeless Prevention Program (HPP) is funded by the state through the Department of Housing and Community Development for the prevention of homelessness in Virginia.

HPP is designed to divert households from homelessness by providing targeted and limited assistance to those who, but for this assistance, are likely to become homeless. Rental arrears, security deposits, and utility assistance are available through HPP for eligible applicants. Mortgage assistance is available on a very limited basis.

The eligibility requirements are:
* Must be a Virginia resident
* Income must not exceed 50% of Area Median Income
* Must be currently homeless or imminent risk of becoming homeless
