Golf: Ian Hildebrand Fires 68 to Lead Loudoun Valley to Top Spot at Dulles District Mini Tournament

Purcellville (Aug. 6, 2012) - Loudoun Valley High School junior Ian Hildbrand, who captured the Dulles District individual title a year ago, opened the 2012 district season by firing a 68 Monday at Loudoun Golf and Country Club to lead the Vikings to a team victory at the first of two district mini tournaments in August.

Loudoun Valley, with Scott Mumpower shooting a third- place 73 behind Briar Woods' Ryan Frick (72), shot 307 to edge defending district regular-season champion Dominion by four strokes at 311. Tuscarora, a winner in the season-opening Curly Licklider Invitational last week, finished third at 315.

Sam Stillwell, who captured the AA state title last fall, shot 76 for Dominion as did Erik Dulik. Tuscarora had five players shoot between 78 and 80.

Rounding out the 10-team event: Briar Woods (326), Woodgrove (332), Heritage (334), Potomac Falls (334), Loudoun County (339), Park View (379) and John Champe (425). It was the first ever district event for Champe in any sport as the school opens later this month in Aldie, becoming Loudoun's 13th public high school.
