Baseball: Greater Loudoun Wins in Extra Innings to Stay Alive at Babe Ruth 14-Year-Old Southeast Regional

Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth 14-Year--Old Squad

Purcellville (Aug. 6, 2012) - Host Greater Loudoun Babe Ruth rallied Monday morning for a 4-3 extra inning win over Arlington to stay alive at the 14-Year-Old Southeast Regional at Fireman's Field.

Greater Loudoun trailed 1-0 after the first inning and 3-2 after four inning but scored a run in the fifth and then pushed a run across the plate in the eighth inning for the win. Greater Loudoun will face Monroe, Ala., a 12-12 winner over Myers Park, N.C. today, in an elimination game tonight at 7 p.m.


San Jose, Fla. and Border Belt, N.C. meet at 4 p.m. today in a match-up of unbeaten teams in the winner's bracket. The winner will advance to the finals. The loser will play the winner of the Greater Loudoun vs. Monroe Ala. game on Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the consolation finals.

The title game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday with a playback, if needed, scheduled for Wednesday morning at 10 a.m.

In the win this morning, Hank Biggs of Greater Loudoun stuck out 10 in seven strong innings. Greater Loudoun's winning run was scored when Corry Curry dropped in a single to score Matt Eberhart. Matt Payne closed out the win on the mound for Geater Loudoun.
