On March 16, the opening day of competition Hayden took the national title in the W50-54 400M recording a time of 1:08.85. She was also the winner of this event in 2010. The following day, combining with Athena Track Club teammates, Cheryl Bellaire (53) Exton, PA, Lorraine Jasper (50) Birchrunville, PA, and Kathy Haubrich (52) Shakopee, MN, Hayden broke her own current W50-59 Indoor World Record in the 4x 800 Meter Relay. The overall time was 10:38.97 with Hayden splitting 2:33.
On the final day of competition, Hayden finished 3rd in the 800 Meters in 2:33. 25 behind fellow Athena runners, Lorraine Jasper, and Terri Cassel (50) Tulsa, OK. Hayden’s final gold medal came in the 4x400 Meter Relay where she combined with Cassel, Maryline Roux (45) Davidson, NC, and Terri Rath (48) Ashburn, VA. Hayden split 1:07.8 while Rath ran 1:06.2, in an overall time of 4:30.18. Rath also won gold running on an Ad hoc 4x200 Meter Relay team in the 40-49 age group and took bronze in the 60 Meters recording 8.83.
Athena Track Club is a nationwide team of elite women master runners. The team hold numerous World and USA relay records including the W50-54 Indoor 4x400 Meter Indoor World Record of 4:27.73 set at the Millrose Games at the New York Armory in February. Hayden was a member of this team, while Rath holds American Outdoor Club Records in both the 4x100 Meters & 4X400 Meters.
Hayden and Rath are both employed as aqua exercise instructors at Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion and Potomac Green Active Living Community. Rath also works at Belmont Country Club as a personal trainer. They both give back to the community as volunteer track coaches at Broad Run High School in Ashburn, where Hayden is employed as an assistant cross country coach. Hayden is the founder of NOVA A.C., a youth track team based in Loudoun County.
