Football: Stone Bridge Celebrates College Choices of Eight Seniors

(March 23, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School celebrated on Wednesday the college choices of eight senior football players. Those honored included: Zach Barney (Washington and Lee), Scott Hinkle (Franklin & Marshall), Stan Johnson (UVA-Wise), Ben Lambourne (Hampden-Sydney), Sean McCoy (Elon), Aaron Palmer (Waynesburg), Stephen Trivieri (Queen's University - Canada), and Mike Tompkins (William & Mary).

Washington and Lee University- NCAA D3

Nickname: Generals. Conference: Old Dominion Athletic Conference
Lexington VA school just saw Frank Miriello retire in January after 17 seasons. Offensive coordinator and assistant head coach Scott Abell has been named coach. Barney joins former Bulldog John Cheretis FR and Broad Run's Eddie Barnes FR and Alex Evans SO.

Nickname: Tigers. Conference: Old Dominion Athletic Conference
Coach Marty Favret was just nmaed ODAC Coach of the Year. Lambourne joins a host of former Loudoun Valley players including Jack Devine of Loudoun Valley SR, Tyler Ikwild SO, Chris Regan FR, and Joey Druhan.

Nickname: Diplomats. Conference: Centennial Conference
The Lancaster PA program is coached by John Troxell and it dates back to 1887!

Nickname: Cavaliers. Conference:  Mid-South Conference
Dewey Lusk just finished his first season as coach of the team. Local grad Alex Feemster just finished his senior season.

Nickname: Golden Gaels. Conference: Ontario Athletic Conference
This program has a storied tradition dating back to 1870s -- and has won more championships than any team in Canada.

Nickname; Phoenix. Conference: Southern Conference
Jason Swepson just finished his first season as the coach of the Phoenix.

Football dates back to 1895 at this program coached by Rick Shepas.

Mike Tompkins TE/LB 6-1 200
William & Mary -  NCAA Division I

Nickname: The Tribe. Conference: CAA Football
The Tribe are coached by Loudoun native Jimmye Laycock. Tompkins joins former Bulldgos
Ryan Moody SR and Trevor Springman JR as well as Jake Wasko of Loudoun County. And W&M sent Potomac Falls grad Adrian Tracy onto the NFL and the New York Giants.
