Football: Loudoun Valley SR Wesley Robinson to Play at Hampden-Sydney

(April 21, 2012) - Loudoun Valley High School senior WR Wesley Robinson reported Friday that he has committed to playing football next year at NCAA Division III Hampden-Sydney.

As a junior, Robinson started  a slot and  helped thee Vikings to the postseason where they won their first playoff game since 1990.

The Class of 2012 now has equaled the Class of 2011 with 145 athletes committed to play in college. The Class of 2010 had 159 athletes on our College Choice Charts.

Purcellville (April 19, 2012) - Loudoun Valley High School senior fullback Nick Martin will play football next year at NCAA Division III Hampden-Sydney. The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Martin squats 425 pounds and bench presses 235.

He rushed for 70 yards and two scores, as well as blocking for Donald Devin's 154-yard day, in a 49-14 win over Potomac Falls last season. In his junior year, Martin helped the Vikings reach the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

(March 23, 2012) - Stone Bridge High School celebrated on Wednesday the college choices of eight senior football players. Those honored included: Zach Barney (Washington and Lee), Scott Hinkle (Franklin & Marshall), Stan Johnson (UVA-Wise), Ben Lambourne (Hampden-Sydney), Sean McCoy (Elon), Aaron Palmer (Waynesburg), Stephen Trivieri (Queen's University - Canada), and Mike Tompkins (William & Mary).

Baseball: Potomac Falls Right-Hander Jackson Rogers to Pitch for Hampden-Sydney

Sterling (March 8, 2012) - Potomac Falls High School right-hander Jackson Rogers will pitch next year for NCAA Division III Hampden-Sydney College.

Last year Rogers was named the Region II Player of the Year and was an unanimous selection at pitcher for the Dulles District and second team all-district at second base. He pitched Potomac Falls to a 5-1 win over James Monroe in the Region II semifinals last spring to secure the Panthers a repeat AA state tournament bid.

Rogers struck out 113 in 90 innings with an ERA of 1.17 while finishing with a 12-1 record. At the plate he hit .357 with 23 RBIs and three home runs.

Soccer: Two More Loudoun Valley Athletes Headed to College Ranks as Justin Thomas and Stephen Palmer Choose Schools

(Apr. 21, 2010) - Loudoun Valley High School added two more athletes to its growing list of college-bound athletes as senior goalkeeper Justin Thomas and senior midfielder Stephen Palmer both have chosen NCAA Division III schools to play soccer at.

Thomas will play at Hampden-Sydney which is located 60 miles southwest of Richmond and plays in the ODAC. Potomac Falls grad Matt Swaney was a junior defender for the Tigers in the Fall.

Palmer will play for the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. which plays in the Empire 8 conference and had players from 15 different states on the roster in 2009 from Hawaii to Texas to Maryland.
