(April 5, 2013) - Broad Run High School grad Taylor Clarke had "Tommy John" elbow surgery in January and then last month got confirmation that Towson University was dropping its baseball program but the right-hander is looking to come back strong next year after accepting a partial scholarship to transfer and play at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. (April 16, 2012) - Broad Run High School baseball coach Pat Cassidy, has been keeping VivaLoudoun up to date on his grads. Below is a little snack of their accomplishments at the start of April

Cole Shain - William and Mary - Shain is currently 2-2 for the Tribe on the mound this season.  In 5 starts and 2 relief outings, he has thrown 28 innings with 16 K's and only 4 BB's.  Last week, Shain picked up his second win of the year at George Mason.  Currently, his ERA is 3.86.

Shane Vlasic - RHP - UMBC - Vlasic is 2-2 on the mound for the Retrievers.  He has struck out 13 batters in 33 innings pitched.  His ERA is currently 4.91.  Last week he picked up his second win of the year at Mt. St. Mary's.

Taylor Clarke - RHP - Towson - Clarke is 1-2 on the season.  He has struck out 27 batters in 32 innings pitched.  His ERA's is 3.58.  Last weekend, he threw his first complete game...a 2-1 loss at the University of Delaware.

Zach Rawson had four hits on the weekend

Zach Rawson - OF - St. Peter's College (NJ) - Rawson has started in 14 games this spring season for the Peacocks.  He has 13 hits in the 18 games he has appeared in for a .271 batting average.

Tommy Meier - Catcher - UVA's College at Wise - Meier is the only player to start all 30 contests for this season for the Cavs.  He currently leads the team offensively with a .364 batting average.

Gymnastics: Former Loudoun County Standout Vicki Vesecky to Compete for NCAA D1 Towson Next Year

(March 14, 2012) - Former Loudoun County High School gymnastic standout Vicki Vesecky, who is a level 10 APEX gymnast, will compete next year for NCAA Division I Towson University.

Vesecky has been a member of APEX Gymnastics since she was 4 years old. She was a former level 9 State All Around Champion and Regional competitor for six years. As a senior in 2009 she led Loudoun County High School to the school's first gymnastics title while winning the All Around.

She will continue her career under coach Vicki Chliszczyk at Towson.

Gracing the cover of Towson's 2012 gymnastics media guide is another Level 10 APEX Gymnastics product in senior Avis Hixon of Heritage High School. Hixson has been one of the Tigers' top performers on the vault and floor the last three seasons and will be one of the Tigers co-captains for the second year in a row. She was honored as ECAC Specialist of the Year in 2011 and qualified for the NCAA regional meet on vault and floor.

(Feb 24, 2012) - Three Broad Run High School grads are getting ready for an amazing weekend with all three former Spartans starting on the mound this weekend in NCAA Division I contests.

The three to keep an eye on:
**Cole Shain (BRHS 2008) of William and Mary: starts tonight at No. 1 University of Florida in Gainesville.

**Shane Vlasic (BRHS 2011) of UMBC: starts today in the Wake Forest Invitational against either Georgetown or Wake Forest

**Taylor Clarke (BRHS 2012) of Towson: will start this weekend at Louisiana-Lafayette.

Baseball: Broad Run's Taylor Clarke Officially Signs with Towson University

Ashburn (Nov. 11, 2010) - Broad Run High School senior officially signed on Wednesday his National Letter of Intent and his scholarship paperwork to play baseball next year at Towson University.

Taylor was an All-District and All-Region selection last year as a pitcher for Broad Run. He ended the season going 9-1 on the mound with 72 strike outs and only 3 walks including 17 strike outs and no walks in two, complete game post-season appearances. In two Varsity seasons he has compiled a 13-3 record on the mound for the Spartans.

Towson University is a member of the Division I, Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Baseball: Broad Run Pitcher Taylor Clarke Makes Early Commitment to NCAA Division I Towson

Ashburn (Aug. 12, 2010) - Broad Run High School rising senior Taylor Clarke made a verbal commitment on Wednesday to accept an athletic scholarship to pitch at NCAA Division I Towson University in Maryland.

As a junior, Clarke was a 2nd team all-region selection as a Pitcher for the Spartans. He was a 1st team Dulles all-district selection as well. On the year, Clarke had a 9-1 record on the mound. He struck out 72 batters on the season and only walked 3. His ERA was 1.83 for the year. As a sophomore he was 4-2 on the mound to make his career pitching record 13-3.

Clarke was outstanding in the post-season for the Spartans this year throwing complete game wins over Briar Woods and Sherando High School in the Dulles District and Region II tournaments. In those two playoff games he struck out a combined 17 batters and walked none.

Towson University is a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Beside playing their CAA schedule, Towson played one of the most difficult schedules in the nation last year with the Tigers taking on Arizona State, University of Virginia, and the University of Maryland.

College Signings: BWoods Alex Maney to Play Soccer at U.S. Marine Merchant Academy; BR's David Weaver a Preferred Walk-on for Towson Football

(May 17, 2010) - With about a month left in the school year the college signings for the Class of 2010 keep on coming and we now have a total of 136 athletes listed on our college choice chart after the addition of Alex Maney of Briar Woods High School, who will play soccer at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), and David Weaver of Broad Run High School, who has been offered a preferred walk-on with the Towson University football team.

The USMMA is an NCAA Division III school that plays inthe Landmark Conference. The USMMA, with 910 undergrads, is one of five U.S. service academies and located in Kings Point, N.Y.

Weaver, who helped the Spartans to back-to-back AA Division 4 state titles, will play slot receiver and special teams for NCAA Division I Towson, which plays in the Colonial Athletic Conference. The school located in Towson, Md., has 17,277 undergrads.
