Football: Dominion DT Yazeed Atariwa Gets Offer from Old Dominion

(March 8, 2013) - The Old Dominion University football program continued its hunt for football talent in the Loudoun County area with an offer to Dominion High School junior defensive tackle Yazeed Atariwa.

The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Atariwa has been invited to the rivals.com invite only combine in Richmond in April along with junior teammate Evan Ferguson, a 6-foot-6, 270-pound offensive tackle.

Football: College Scholarship Offers Roll in for Falcons - Trace McSorley Picks Up 3 More, Jared Coker Adds 2 and Brandon Polks Picks Up Another

(March 6, 2013) - The college scholarship offers are rolling in for a talented trio of Briar Woods High School football players that have helped the school to win three consecutive VHSL Division 4 state championships.

Junior quarterback Trace McSorley, 42-3 as a starter in three years, now has eight total offers after getting new offers from Western Michigan, Old Dominion and Vanderbilt. Previously he had offers from Boston College, North Carolina, UMass, UNC-Charlotte and Virginia Tech.

Junior linemen Jared Coker doubled his offers with two new ones as VMI and Old Dominion are vying for his talent. Previously he had offers from Bowling Green and UMass.

And sophomore wide receiver/defensive back Brandon Polk picked up an Old Dominion offer to go with previous offers from Maryland and Virginia Tech.

College Update: Broad Run Grad Michael Cotton Named U.S. Army ROTC Cadet of the Year at ODU

(Apr. 26, 2010 - Former Broad Run High School football standout Michael Cotton was named last week as the U.S. Army ROTC Cadet of the Year at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.

A member of the Broad Run 2008 AA state championship football team, Cotton was named to the All Dulles District team in 2007 and 2008 as a linebacker, and holds numerous all-time weightlifting records at Broad Run.

Old Dominion University has the fifth largest U.S. Army ROTC program in the country and is the largest program on the east coast. The Cadet of the Year award is given based on academic performance, physical fitness testing, and military science achievement.
