College Corner: Great Opening Act! Loudoun County Grad Aubel Named CAC Softball Player of the Week

(March 19, 2013) -Following a handful of stellar efforts in her first collegiate action for Frostburg State softball, freshman Renay Aubel was been named the Capital Athletic Conference Softball Player of the Week on March 4. The Loudoun County High School grad  posted a .500 on-base percentage, with three hits, four walks, two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored as the Bobcats won three of four games at the Beach Blast in Virginia Beach this past weekend.

Football: Freedom's Freda Twins Commit to Frostburg State University

South Riding (May 3, 2012) - Freedom High School seniors Chris and Zach Freda have committed to play football together at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD next fall. Chris and Zach Freda are both 3-year letterman for the Eagles.

Baseball: Broad Run SR Kyle McCormack to Play at Frostburg State Next Year

Ashburn (April 24, 2012) - Broad Right senior Kyle McCormack will pitch at NCAA Division III Frostburg State University in Maryland next year.

McCormack first caught the Frostburg State staff’s attention at a one-day showcase in mid-January at the university. Then, during the season, Frostburg State assistant coach Philip Betterly attended a game that McCormack pitched for the Spartans in Ashburn.

College Corner: Freedom Grad Troy Dockett Grabs CAC Weekly Men's Basketball Honor

(Jan. 6, 2012) - Frostburg State men's basketball senior guard Troy Dockett (South Riding, Va./Freedom) has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week after his stellar play in three games over the Holiday break.

The Bobcats posted a 2-1 record during that stretch with wins over former Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference rivals Penn State Altoona (99-79) and Pitt-Greensburg (91-71).

Softball: Loudoun County Senior Renay Aubel Commits to Play at Frostburg State Next Year

Leesburg (Nov. 21, 2011) - Loudoun County High School senior Renay Aubel has committed to play softball at Frostburg State next year.

Aubel is a 3-time letter winner for the Raiders and two-time team MVP who has started all 65 games her first three seasons. She currently has a career .363 batting average and is an outstanding fielder.

Last year she was All Dulles District as an infielder.

Loudoun County athletic director Ken Wright: "Renay is a real asset to LCHS, both on the field and off ... she represents the positives in being a student-athlete. Great Job to Renay and her family."
