News: Man at Area Hotel Charged After Alledgedly Offering Alcohol to Visiting Students on School Trip; 5-Year-old's Mini-Bike Ride Lands Her in Hospital; 10 Hours of Negotiations Pays Off in Suicidal Case in Philomont

(May 3, 2013) - The Loudoun County Sheriff's Daily crime report for May 2-3 had its share of unusual cases including:

• 23-year-old Texas man was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor after two juveniles from Georgia, here on a school trip, reported that the man offered them alcohol from his hotel room in Sterling.
• A 5-year-old Sterling girl was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital after she inadvertently hit the throttle on a mini-bike in her backyard and rode through a common area before striking a parked vehicle.
• After 10 hours of negotiations, a barricade situation with a suicidal man on Beaverdam Bridge Road was ended without incident.

Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor: Two juveniles from Georgia, staying in the area for a school trip, reported that they were approached by an unknown male who offered them alcohol from his hotel room. The suspect was located and identified as Jorge L. Avila-Compean, 23, of Houston, Texas. He was charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He remains held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a Federal detainer issued by ICE.

Exposure: A deputy on patrol observed an unknown male relieving himself in a public area, exposing himself to passing motorists. The subject, Angel C. Nurse, 27, of Sterling, was charged with Indecent Exposure.

Injury/Flyout: A 5-year-old girl was on a mini-bike in the backyard of her residence when she inadvertently hit the throttle. The child held onto the mini-bike and rode through a common area and struck a parked vehicle. The child, who was wearing a helmet, was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital, with what appears to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Suicidal Subject/Barricade: After nearly 10-hours of negotiations, a barricade situation involving a suicidal man near Philomont, Virginia, was resolved without incident. The adult male was held on an emergency custody order and taken to a local hospital for a mental evaluation.
