Softball: Stone Bridge Swats Way to State Tournament

(May 30, 2013) - The Stone Bridge High School softball team, which is averaging 13.5 runs per game in the postseason, had just an average night in the Northern Region semifinals as the Bulldogs bashed their way to a 13-1 win over Langley.

Stone Bridge (25-1), with 81 runs in six postseason games and 286 runs total, has qualified for the state tournament and will play Liberty District rival Madison Friday in the Northern Region finals.


Olivia Tatara hit a home run Wednesday and had three RBIs. Also with three runs driven in was Katie Bellino and Sydneyh Broderick added two. Emily Kenny, Kelly McDaniel (winning pitcher) and Niki Prince all had one RBI.

Prince now has 50 RBIs on the season to go with 12 home runs. Stone Bridge had six players with 23 or more RBIs including: Broderick (33), Courtney Gibson (29), McDaniel (26), Bellino (23) and Kenny (23).
