It was a busy Saturday as there was another airlift with serious injuries after a 16-year-old driver from South Riding was involved in an accident at the intersection of Poland Rd and Edgewater St. The teen driver and driver of another vehicle, a 32-year-old man, were treated at area hospitals and the 17-year-old passenger riding with the teen was airlifted to Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries where they are currently listed in serious but stable condition.
In other news from the Loudoun County Sheriff's latest Daily Crime Report, a 34-year-old Sterling man driving in the area of Regal Plaza was struck through the window of his car by an unknown subject. Here is the full report from across the county:

The DMV was closed as a precaution as the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and the Loudoun County Bomb Squad was called to investigate. The owner returned for the item and it was determined it was harmless.

Sterling Assist Rescue: A five-year-old boy and his 59-year-old grandmother were injured when the two were in a hammock and a tree it was attached to collapsed. The two were airlifted from the scene. The child was listed in critical but stable condition on Saturday. The grandmother was being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim rolled down the window and the subject struck him and then kicked the driver'€™s side door. The suspect was described as a White male, 40-to-50-years-old, approximately 6'€™3"€ tall, with a medium build and gray hair. The subject was not located in the area. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.

South Riding Auto Crash: A 2012 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 16-year-old from South Riding, was traveling westbound on Edgewater Street when she approached the intersection with Poland Road. The Nissan Sentra entered the intersection without having the right of way and was struck by a 2006 Nissan Titan, driven by a 32-year-old South Riding man, that was traveling southbound on Poland Road. Driver side, passenger side, and curtain airbags deployed in the Nissan Sentra and the driver's airbag deployed in the Nissan Titan. The 32-year-old man was transported by a family member to Inova Loudoun Hospital for minor injuries. The 16-year-old was transported by ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital for minor injuries and has since been released. Her 17-year-old passenger, who is also from South Riding, was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is currently listed in serious but stable condition. Alcohol and speed are not factors in the crash. This crash is still under investigation.

South Riding Auto Crash: A 2012 Nissan Sentra, driven by a 16-year-old from South Riding, was traveling westbound on Edgewater Street when she approached the intersection with Poland Road. The Nissan Sentra entered the intersection without having the right of way and was struck by a 2006 Nissan Titan, driven by a 32-year-old South Riding man, that was traveling southbound on Poland Road. Driver side, passenger side, and curtain airbags deployed in the Nissan Sentra and the driver's airbag deployed in the Nissan Titan. The 32-year-old man was transported by a family member to Inova Loudoun Hospital for minor injuries. The 16-year-old was transported by ambulance to Inova Fairfax Hospital for minor injuries and has since been released. Her 17-year-old passenger, who is also from South Riding, was airlifted to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is currently listed in serious but stable condition. Alcohol and speed are not factors in the crash. This crash is still under investigation.

Purcellville Missing Child: On Saturday afternoon, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office located a missing 11-year-old boy who was last seen at his home Friday afternoon. The child was found in good condition. The child left his residence on his own accord on Friday. On Friday and Saturday, members of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team conducted aerial and ground searches for the child. Aerial support was provided by the Maryland State Police and the Fairfax County Police Department. Reverse 911 messages were also sent to homes within the immediate area of where the child was reported missing. Members of the community also assisted in the search. The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank our regional partners for their assistance in the search, including the Fairfax County Police Department Bloodhound Unit and the Virginia State Police Bloodhound Unit. The child was located a short distance from his home and was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
