The Aldie Senators will open their 2013 VBL season at home against the Front Royal Cardinals on May 31, 2013. The Senators previously played their home games at Battlefield High School.
"We are very appreciative of the staff at John Champe for giving us this opportunity and thank Battlefield High School for many great years!," read a club release.
The Senators also announced that assistant coach Eric Lemley will be the head coach for 2013. He is currently an assistant coach at UVA Wise. Ross Golding, Napa High School, will also be back from the 2012 Senators coaching staff joining Lemley as an assistant coach for the 2013 season.
The club is seeking people interested in joining the club's Board of Directors Group. Also, volunteers and interns are being sought for the 2012 season. Contact the club at aldiesenators@hotmail.com.
The not-for-profit organization is also seeking new sponsors and donations. Attached is the 2013 sponsorship form.
About the Senators
The Aldie Senators are a member of the Valley Baseball League (VBL), a summer collegiate wooden bat baseball league made up of teams from the Shenandoah Region of Virginia. The VBL has been supported, in part, by a small grant from Major League Baseball for over 25 years. In 2010, MLB made it a requirement, as part of its grant eligibility criteria, that all recipients are IRS qualified 501(c) (3) not-for-profit organizations. To adhere to this, and remain a member of the VBL, the ownership group of the Aldie Senators donated the Senators Baseball Operations to Blue Ridge Baseball Inc., an established 501(c)(3) that’s charter supports amateur baseball and softball in the greater Loudoun and Prince William Counties.
