Football: Stone Bridge QB Ryan Burns Named Finalist for U.S. Army All-American Bowl 2013 Doc Blanchard Award

Wharton, N.J. (December 12, 2012) - The U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Committee has announced Stone Bridge High School senior quarterback Ryan Burns as one of the eight nominees for the prestigious Felix “Doc” Blanchard and Glenn Davis Awards. Both renowned Army Football icons, Glenn Davis and Felix “Doc” Blanchard were college football’s great running back tandem while playing on the Army football team in the 1940s. The awards will be announced at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl Awards Dinner on January 4, 2013, in San Antonio.

U.S. Army All-American Graham Shuler from Brentwood, Tenn., was the 2012 recipient of the Felix “Doc” Blanchard award, and Kyle Murphy from San Clemente, Calif., was the 2012 recipient of the Glenn Davis award.

For more than a decade, the U.S. Army All-American Bowl has been the Nation’s premier high school football game, serving as the preeminent launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars. Percy Harvin, Jamaal Charles, Patrick Peterson, and Andrew Luck all made their national debuts as U.S. Army All-Americans. In the 2012 NFL Draft Andrew Luck became the first U.S. Army All-American Bowl alumnus to be selected with the first overall pick. The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl drew a record crowd of 39,011 to the Alamodome, and was the most-watched sporting event on television over the weekend, excluding the NFL playoffs.
