Swim: Heritage Team Involved in Bus Crash on Way to Meet; Accident Sends 7 to Hospital with Minor Injuries

(Dec. 10, 2012) - A Loudoun County Public School bus en route to Manassas with approximately 30 high school students from the Heritage High School swim team on board was involved in a two vehicle crash on Friday evening south of Leesburg.


Loudoun Sheriff's report states that "Around 5:15PM, Loudoun County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of Route 15 and Masons Lane for a report of a two vehicle crash involving a school bus and a pick-up truck. Two adults on the bus and five juveniles were taken to local hospitals for treatment. As of Friday night, none of their injuries were considered serious. The remaining students were loaded on to a second bus. The roadway was closed for approximately two hours as emergency personnel cleared the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit."
