(Dec. 16, 2012) - It has been a dangerous holiday season for pedestrians on the Loudoun roadways as a third fatality within a month was recorded early Sunday morning, Dec. 16, when a female was struck and killed while attempting to cross Route 28 in the area of Route 267.
Loudoun County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area around 3:30 a.m. December 16th for a report of a female that was struck while attempting to cross Route 28. The victim lost her life at the scene. The victim has not been positively identified at this time.
Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are expected to clear the scene shortly.
On Dec. 10 a pedestrian was struck and killed while attempting to cross Route 7 near Davenport Drive in Sterling around 3 a.m.
On Nov. 21, just before Thanksgiving, popular Ashburn are elementary school principal Kathleen Hwang was struck and killed in the afternoon while walking near her home in Sterling.
On Dec. 12, a 13-month-old girls was accidentally struck by a car in Hamilton in the driveway of her home. The girl was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital where she was expected to make a full recovery.
