News: LCSO Investigating Pedestrian Struck and Killed Attempting to Cross Route 28; 3rd Such Fatality in Month

(Dec. 16, 2012) - It has been a dangerous holiday season for pedestrians on the Loudoun roadways as a third fatality within a month was recorded early Sunday morning, Dec. 16, when a female was struck and killed while attempting to cross Route 28 in the area of Route 267.

Loudoun County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area around 3:30 a.m. December 16th for a report of a female that was struck while attempting to cross Route 28. The victim lost her life at the scene. The victim has not been positively identified at this time.

Members of the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Crash Reconstruction Unit are expected to clear the scene shortly.

News: Pedestrian Hit and Killed on Route 7; Second Such Fatality in Sterling Within a Month

(Dec. 10, 2012) - Loudoun County Sheriff's reported that a 39-year-old female from Fairfax was travelling westbound on Route 7 near Davenport Drive in Sterling when she struck an adult male in the roadway just before 4 a.m.

The victim was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.The victim has not been positively identified according to sheriff's reports Monday morning.

Just last month, popular Sanders Corner Elementary School principal Kathleen Hwang was struck and killed while walking near her home in Sterling the day before Thanksgiving.
