Volleyball: Another Freedom Volleyball Player Headed to College Ranks as Flanigin Commits to Wingate University

South Riding (Feb. 15, 2011) - On the heels of the school's best volleyball season in history, Freedom High School has yet another athlete headed to the college ranks as senior Jenna Flanigin has verbally committed to play next year at Wingate University, one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the country.

Flanigin joins senior teammate Tori Kramer (Waynesburg) and junior teammate Kaitlyn LaMantia (North Carolina State) to make commitments.

The middle blocker for the VA Elite 18s club team helped Freedom secure a Region II runner-up finish and the Eagles first-ever trip to the state tournament.

North Carolina-based Wingate plays in the South Atlantic Conference and went 31-2 overall in 2010. The Bulldogs have lost only two matches in each of the last four seasons for a total record of 138-8 since the start of the 2007 season.

The Bulldogs have won five consecutive regular season and tournament titles in the conference, while making six consecutive NCAA Division II tournament appearances.
