Basketball: Dulles District Playoff Races Head Into Final Week

(Feb. 7, 2011) - The Dulles District boys and girls basketball playoff races will be finalized this week as the regular-season wraps up. On the boys side, Potomac Falls (14-0 in district) has already clinched at least a share of the title and will wrap it up with a victory on the road at either Woodgrove Tuesday or Briar Woods Friday.

The Broad Run boys would need to win all three games this week and have the Panthers fall twice to force a tie.

On the girls side, Loudoun County (13-1) can clinch at least a share of the title with a win Tuesday at Dominion. If the Raiders also win Friday against Woodgrove then the crown is theirs, regardless what Freedom (12-2) does in its two games this week.

Tonight the seeding battles take place as Broad Run and Briar Woods play with the boys at Broad Run and girls at Briar Woods. The Briar Woods boys (11-3) can catch Broad Run (12-2) to tie for the No. 2 seed with a win.

On the girls side, Broad Run (6-7) needs a win over Briar Woods (7-6) to move into a tie for the No. 4 seed while the Falcons could use a win to move into a tie for the No. 3 seed with Potomac Falls (8-6).
