News: Good Samaritan Carjaked in Lansdowne by 63-year-old Woman

(May 30, 2013) - While most of the attention in Loudoun County Wednesday was focused on the fatal shooting at Costco in Sterling, there was a bizarre carjacking just before 10 p.m. in Lansdowne where a 24-year-old Ashburn man had his "Good Samaritan" act turn into a carjacking when a 63-year-old Leesburg woman reportedly pulled a knife on him and took his car.

Mary C. Hardy, 63, of Leesburg, was charged with carjacking and public intoxication after a reported carjacking in the area of Merchant Mill Terrace and Marvins Mill Terrace in Lansdowne. Deputies responded to the area after they received a report from the victim, a 24-year-old Ashburn man, who reported that he offered a ride to a female who later pulled a knife and took his vehicle.

News: Thieves Strike Gold in Loudoun! Sheriff's Office to Hold Community Meeting in Response to Burglaries Targeting Gold in Lansdowne/Ashburn/South Riding

(March 1, 2013) - The Loudoun County Sheriff'€™s Office will hold a community meeting to discuss recent burglaries in the Lansdowne and Dulles South areas and will also review crime prevention measures and establishing a Neighborhood Watch program. 

The meeting is in response to a series of burglaries that are apparently targeting gold. Since December 2012, there have been seven burglaries in the area that are likely connected. In most of the cases the suspect(s) entered through a rear door or window while the residents were not at home. 

The meeting will be held on Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m. in the library of the Liberty Elementary School located at 25491 South Riding Center Drive in South Riding, VA. 

News: Loudoun County Sheriff's Undercover Detective Charged with DWI after Lansdowne Incident

(Nov. 14, 2012) - A Loudoun County Sheriff'€™s Detective was charged on November 10th with driving while intoxicated in the Lansdowne area.

Loudoun County Sheriff'€™s Deputies responded to the area of the Lansdowne Town Center around 12:30 a.m for a report of possibly intoxicated male attempting to leave in a vehicle. As deputies arrived on the scene they learned the driver, later identified as an undercover member of the agency'€™s Criminal Investigations Division, struck two parked vehicles. He was driving his personal vehicle.

News: Public Hearing on Proposed High School in Lansdowne Set for July 18

(July 16, 2012) - There will be a joint public hearing of the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors for the proposed high school (HS-8) in Lansdowne. The hearing will be held July 18, 2012 at Belmont Ridge Middle School, 19045 Upper Belmont Place, Leesburg, starting at 7 p.m.
