Men's Lacrosse: Stone Bridge Grad Derek Maltz Nets Game Winner with 19.2 Seconds Left to Send Syracuse into National Title Game

(May 26, 2013) - All it takes is one goal and junior Derek Maltz (Stone Bridge High School/2010) provided it. He picked up a rebound in front of the Denver cage and scored with 19.2 seconds left to propel No. 1 seed Syracuse (16-3) to 9-8 victory against the fourth-seeded Pioneers (14-5) in the NCAA men's lacrosse semifinals Saturday, May 25 at Lincoln Financial Field. Maltz's goal capped a furious rally that saw the Orange tally five of the game's last six goals to overcome a 7-4 deficit entering the fourth quarter. Loudoun Valley High School grad Chris Daddio was 2 of 4 on faceoffs in the win for Syrscuse. Maltz, Daddio and the Orange will play Duke on Monday, May 27, at 1 p.m. for the national championship.

(May 24, 2013) - You can catch a couple of local grads on national TV Saturday as Stone Bridge High School grad Derek Maltz and Loudoun Valley High School grad Chris Daddio will take the field for Syracuse University as the top-ranked Orange take on No. 4 Denver at 5 p.m. in the NCAA Final Four at Lincoln Financial Field in Phileadelphia.

The other other semifinal pits No. 7 Duke against unranked Cornell at 2:30 p.m.
