News: Freedom Celebrates its Largest Athletic Class to Move to the Next Level

South Riding (June 7, 2011) - Freedom High School is sending its largest class in school history to the next athletic level with 15 members of Freedom's Class of 2011 competing in college next year.

These student athletes were recognized and celebrated during a reception in the school's cafeteria:

Boys Lacrosse: Freedom's Nick Lambert to Play at NCAA D2 Catawba

South Riding (May 10, 2011) - Freedom High School senior LSM/defenseman Nick Lambert, one of the big reasons that the Eagles secured their first winning regular season in history with a 11-7 victory over Broad Run last week, has committed to play lacrosse next season at NCAA Division II Catawba College in North Carolina.

Freedom finished 8-6 overall and 5-4 in the Dulles District and will travel to Woodgrove this Thursday for a district tournament quarterfinal.

Lambert stared lacrosse at age nine has come a long way since his first try at long pole at age 11 when he was so small that they had to cut down the pole for him. Lambert has been on the defense ever since.

He is one of the first Eagles to earn a 4-year varsity letter in boys lacrosse. Lambert has played for FuZe lacrosse as well as an invitational member with other elite teams.

The Catawba connection came after Lambert attended camp at the college and won their top defenseman award. Lambert loved the school and coaches so much that he made the school his top choice and he signed his Letter of Intent in the fall.

While Lambert was getting some D1 looks, he liked Catawba and his chances at contributing on the D2 level immediately: "I could go D1 and I might get some field time in my junior and seniors years, but if I go D2, especially with a school that really wants me, they'll play me all four years."
