News: Veteran's Day 5K Planned for Loudoun's Newest Regional Park

(Oct. 9, 2012) - A Veteran's Day 5K race is planned for Bolen Park in Leesburg, Loudoun's newest regional park. Runners will travel throughout the park around sports fields, over bridges and through wooded trails at the Sunday Nov. 11 event.

News: Register Now for Broad Run's Grapplers and Ghouls Gallop 5K Fundraiser

(Sept. 7, 2012) - Registration is underway for Broad Run High School's Grapplers and Ghouls 5K fundraiser which will be held Oct. 27 at 9 a.m. starting at the school in Ashburn.

The Grapplers and Ghouls Gallop is a road race event meant to connect the local community and its students, as well as the students of the local middle schools, and the alumni of the old. The path of race will take runners from the campus of Broad Run, down to Farmwell Road and through the Farmwell Hunt development before circling back and ending back at Broad Run.

Running: Cam's Light 5K Race/Walk/Family Fun Run to Raise Funds in Memory of Cameron Carter

(May 10, 2012) - Stone Hill Middle School is hosting Cam's Light 5K Race/Walk/Family Fun Run on May 19 that will raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in memory of Cameron Carter, an 8th grade student who passed away earlier this year.

Check in is at 7:30 a.m. with the competitive race starting at 8 a.m. and family fun run shortly after.

News: Stone Hill Middle School 8th Graders Plans 5K on May 19 to Raise Funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research in Honor of Cameron Carter

(March 27, 2012) - Mark your calendars for May 19 as Stone Hill Middle School 8th graders are putting together a 5K race to raise funds for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in honor of former classmate Cameron Carter, who passed away last month from a diabetic seizure at age 14.

The 5K "Cam's Light Race", organized as a Stone Hill Middle School 8th Grade Civics Project, has a goal of raising $10,000. Check back to Viva Loudoun for more details on this race. Register for the race here.

Cross Country: Potomac Falls Grads Hardin, Saunders Win Ringing in Hope 10K Race which Draws Large Field, Benefits Area Charities

Ashburn (Jan. 3, 2012) - More than 2,000 participants took to the streets of Brambleton on the morning of New Year’s Eve in a race that helped to raise funding for participating area charities. Potomac Falls High School grads Joshua Hardin and Melissa Saunders won the men's and women's race

 The second annual Ringing In Hope Walk, Run & Fun (10K & 5K Race, 1K walk) winter race drew in more than double the crowd of its inaugural December 2010 race, starting at Brambleton Town Center in Brambleton. The race kick off was signaled by the Hogettes and runners took off on a 5K or 10K course enjoying near record-high weather.

Hardin of Potomac Falls, VA, finished in first place for the men in the 10K, in at 33:32, along with Saunders for the women, also from Potomac Falls, at 41:00.

 Ry Hu of Ashburn, Va., took top honors for the men in the 5K in at 17:08, as did Amy Passauer of Ashburn, Va., for the women in at 20:22.

Cross Country: Joe Cassella 5K Scheduled for May 15 in Great Falls

(Mar. 30, 2011) - The Joe Cassella Foundation is proud to extend Viva Loudoun an invitation to participate and sponsor the Joe Cassella 5K on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Great Falls Village Center in Great Falls, VA.

The Joe Cassella Foundation is a non-profit organization based out of Leesburg with a mission to offer financial assistance to the families of less fortunate children affected by a medical condition, to reduce the stress of financial concerns related to serious illness and injury, and allow them to better focus on supporting their child.

This year, the race will benefit Gracie Sweet, a 16-month old baby who has an inoperable brain tumor, and the funds raised will be used to cover her medical expenses. The 5K Run/Walk is expected to draw 1,000 participants from the Washington DC Metro area, who will gather for a great cause and enjoy a day of fitness and fun.

Deadline to help sponsor the race has been extended until April 22.

The race will feature:
