The Skinny: Vikes report that they defeated Dominion High School in varsity baseball last night by the score of 12 - 0 in 5 innings. Will Reed picked up his second win of the season by pitching a complete game 3 hitter. Reed allowed 0 runs on 3 hits while walking 4 and striking out 6 batters.
The offensive attack was lead by Brandon Grayson who was 3 - 4 with a home run and 5 RBI and Blake Southerland who was 1 - 2 with a home run and 3 RBI. Trey McDyre was 1 - 2 with 2 RBI, while Chad Fletcher was 1-2 with a double and Sam Urban was 1-3.

The Skinny: GameChanger stats show that TJ, a program that went 0-14 in Liberty District last year, shocked the defending district champion Bulldogs in Stone Bridge's season opener. Stone Bridge almost had as many errors (4) as hits (5) with Bulldog hits collected by Jake Kuzbel, Marcus Schreiber, Matt Hough, Aaidan Donovan and Ty Percherke.

The Skinny: Briar Woods handed Woodgrove its first defeat since the 2011 season. Woodgrove went 24-0-1 last season, winning the AA state title, with the tie coming early in the season to Briar Woods. The Lady Falcons opened the scoring in the 1st half with a goal from Kira Warner assisted by Emma Quirk . Briar Woods scored in the 2nd half from a free kick from Rayven Conner then went on to win the fierce game against there district foe. The defense was lead in the back by Lauren Kelly and Nikki Batt also goalie Tori Riopelle who did a great job tonight in the net !

The Skinny: Raiders lax reports that due to late winter snow and closed schools for PWC, Loudoun County Girl’s traveled to Patriot HS on Tuesday March 19th to make up their Monday game. Though the Lady Raiders went from hosting to visiting, they were able to remain successful with a final score of LC 18 – PHS 11. Scoring for the Raiders: Senior captain Haley Knudsen (5 g 4 a) Juniors Megan Norris (2 g), Alex Lord (2 g) and Rachel Conway (1 g), Sophomore Erica Beal (3 g, 1 a) and Freshman Katie Orrison (5 g., The defense held strong, led by Goalie, Maddy Wheeler ( 11 saves) with assistance from Senior Ashlee Bowers and Freshman Jessi Rowell . The Lady Raiders will host Potomac Fall HS on Thursday at 6:00.

The Skinny: Falcons report that they dropped a pair of games to local AAA rivals Stone Bridge and Broad Run in the Second Annual Battle of Ashburn Tournament Saturday at Stone Bridge. The Falcons (1-3) fell to the host Bulldogs 3-0 in the opening game, and a seventh-inning rally came up short in a 7-6 loss to Broad Run in the second game of the day.
In game one, Stone Bridge, a AAA state tournament quarterfinalist a year ago, jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first behind two hits and a pair of Falcon errors. The score remained the same until the Bulldogs tacked on another unearned run in the fifth.
The Falcons collected six hits in the game but stranded six runners. Sophomore Danielle Brendes had a pair of doubles, while sophomore Kayla Brennan singled twice.
Sophomore Madison Goodman took the loss despite allowing no earned runs in three innings.
In the second game, the Falcons rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh but had the potential game-tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game.
Trailing 7-2 entering the final inning, Briar Woods got things started when junior Kacie Kondrotis singled and freshman Meghan Bradshaw reached on an error that allowed the runners to advance to second and third. Junior Jordan Counts sent a lined shot to left for the first out before Brendes ripped a double to score both Kondrotis and Bradshaw. After junior Casey Forbes walked, freshman Alexa Binckes battled to a 3-2 count before flying out to deep center.
Brennan followed with a double to plate Brendes and Forbes and pull the Falcons to within a run. Junior Lynn Brantley then singled to left, but Broad Run gunned down the tying run at the plate to end the game.
"That last play is on me," said Falcon head coach Chris Starke. "I initially held our runner around third, saw the left fielder bobble the ball and took a chance by sending her. The left fielder made a quick recovery and threw a strike to the plate. That was a bad decision on my part and a great play by Broad Run."
Broad Run, which advanced to last year's AAA state semifinals, tallied single runs in the third and fourth innings and added three more runs in the sixth to build a 5-0 advantage.
The Falcons scored twice in the sixth on an RBI-groundout by Brantley and an RBI-single by junior Emilie Ball, but the Spartans countered with two decisive runs in the top of the seventh behind a lead-off walk, two singles and a wild pitch.
Briar Woods collected 10 hits against Broad Run, led by two each from Counts, Brendes and Brantley.
"I am proud of how our team battled back late in that second ball game," said Starke. "We were putting the bat on the ball most of the day but just hitting it right at people. We started finding holes late in that second game, and we gave ourselves a chance at the end."
GameChanger reports that Kamille Larrrabee was 4 for 4 in the win and that Madison Small was 3 for 4 in the win and Erika D'Argenio went 3 for 3 with two RBIs. McKall Miller was 2 for 4 with an RBI. Ellie Jessop had two RBIs.
Stone Bridge 14, Broad Run 1 (5)
The Skinny: GameChanger reports that Stone Bridge had 15 hits including 3-hit games by Emily Kenny and Niki Prince; and 2-hit games by Olivia Sappington and Kelly McDaniel. Prince finished with 5 RBIs. McDaniel went the distance for SB giving up one run on three hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

The Skinny: Woodgrove reports that the Wolverinesolverines baseball team opened up its season with a victory over the Briar Woods Falcons Friday night with a 6-0 win. Sophomore starter Kaleb Bowman recorded the win, going 5 strong inning while scattering 3 hits with 6 K’s and no walks. Offensively, the Wolverines were led by Junior Matt Jeffery who had 2 doubles and 2 RBI. Sophomore Dillon Serley, junior Matt Wright, junior Josh Sweet and senior Trevor Pike had a hit apiece on the night, too.
Potomac Falls 3, Dominion 0
The Skinny: Panthers report that they got their first win of the season with a 3-0 Dulles District victory over Dominion. Potomac Falls pitchers James Pearson, Brandon Orbe and Zack Engelmann combined on a two hitter and recorded 10 strikeouts in the win. Brandon Orbe led the way at the plate with two doubles and a single while Jared Goldberg, James Pearson and Michael Smith all added two hits apiece.
Loudoun Valley 4, Loudoun County 2
The Skinny: Loudoun Valley reports that the Vikes defeated the Loudoun County Raiders on Friday night by the score of 4 - 2. The Vikings were lead on the mound by Danny White who had a personal best 13 strike outs on the night. White gave up 4 hits while not allowing an earned run. White also drove in a run scoring Will Reed from 2nd on a single to left. Will Reed and Brandon Grayson Lead the Vikings offensive attack with 2 hits apiece. Reed drove the go ahead run in the bottom of the 5th with a single to left scoring Sam Urban who had double down the left field line. Andrew Lohr gave the Vikings some breathing room with an pinch hit RBI single up the middle in the bottom of the 6th.

The Loudoun County Lady Raiders added another game to the W-column by beating the Loudoun Valley Lady Vikings, 10-1. The Lady Raiders got off to a slow start, but their bats heated up in the 5th inning after Kiley Jacobus hit another out-of-the-park homerun, her 2nd in as many games. Kiley also had a base hit and 2 RBI's. Adding to the list of homerun hitters was Delaney Turner. Delaney helped add to the score with a Double and 2 RBI's. Contributing to the rally was Courtney Amos with 1 Double, 1 RBI; Sarah Fadeley 1 Double, 1 base hit and 1 RBI; Brittney Platt 1 Double and 1 RBI; Abby Lamb 1 Double and 1 RBI. The Skinny: Jasmyn Rohrer scattered five hits with eight strikeouts, two walks and just one earned run allowed for the Wolverines. Ashley Cole went 3 for 4 for Woodgrove and Adriana Erickson and Delanie Daughtry each had two hits and an RBI. Halle Daughtry collected two RBIs.

The Skinny: Panthers report that they combined solid pitching with a strong offense in a 10–5 victory over visiting district rival Dominion HS. Sophomore Logan Mehalic led the team on both defense and offense, going the distance on the mound and driving in three runs with a double and triple. The Panthers were up 4 - 1 the first two innings before jumping to a 9 – 3 lead at the bottom of the third, holding at 10 – 3 until the top of the seventh. The Skinny: Falcon coach Steve Kennedy reports that they won the match 7-2. Won 1 thru 4 in Singles. The #2 and #3 spots are Freshman players. Lalitha Gollapaly (2) and Noelle Ihanainen (3). Both are NTA ranked players. Tracy Otieno, one of our most experience Seniors, won her singles match 8-3. Noelle has been our most consistent player, in both singles and doubles.
We swept doubles, with contributions from Dorsa Siahatgar and Lalitha Gallopaly in #1 singles (8-5) Noelle Ihanainen and Rebecca Hang won the #2 doubles 8-1. Manisha Nannapaneni and Julia Nguyen also won their match 8-4.
The highlight of our match was the #1 Singles match, where Dorsa Siahatgar, came back from a 0-4 deficit, and won the match 8-5. Dorsa accomplished this victory while playing with an injury.
The team did a great job working our game plan. We reduced unforced errors by 55%

The Skinny: Huskies report that they beat Dominion last night in a non district match up 11 to 7. With Dominion holding a 7 to 3 lead, the huskies plated 8 runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the lead. Freshman pitcher Bryce Pearson earned his first varsity win, pitching 2 innings of relief work. Offensively, Gavin Wall went 1 for 2 with 2 SB and 2 runs scored,Dominick Marinelli was 1 for 4 with a SB and 2 runs scored, Brady Kaplan went 1 for 3, Ben Taylor had 2 rbi's, and Nicky Lang was 1 for 4 with double and a run scored.

The Skinny: Woodgrove out-hit Musselman 15-5 and still lost. For the Wolverines, 2-hit games included Mackenzie Moler (3B, RBI), Rachel Harris (2B, 2 RBI), Ashley Cole (2B), Adriana Erickson, Halle Daughtry (2B) and Corinne Vennitti (RBI).
Loudoun Valley 18, Park View 2
The Skinny: Vikes report that they defeated Park View In their district opener, 18-2 in 6 innings. Leading the Vikings' offense was Sophomore Kailey Liverman going 4-5 with a triple and a double. Also adding to the Vikings' offense was Freshman Morgan Kmetz with 3 hits, With two hits was Freshman Leah Coles, Junior Addie Dieterich, and Senior Sam Adams, rounding out the offense with one hit each was, Freshman Mckenna Holtz, Freshman Haley Cooper, and Junior Kylen Holtz. Sam Adams lead the defense on the mound with seven strike outs. The Vikings are back in action on Friday March 15 vs. Loudoun County.
Briar Woods 29, Champe 0
The Skinny: The Falcons report that they opened the 2013 season with a 29-0 win over John Champe Thursday night in Ashburn.
The Falcons jumped out to an 8-0 lead after the first inning, tacked on three more runs in the second and took control with a 16-run third inning. The hosts then added two runs in the fourth to close out the scoring.
Junior Jordan Counts and senior Lynn Brantley paced the Falcons with four hits each. Senior Emilie Ball, junior Kacie Kondrotis and sophomores Danielle Brendes and Kayla Brennan had three hits apiece, while freshman Alexa Binckes, sophomore Emma Myers, sophomore Meghan Powell and freshman Meghan Bradshaw had two hits each.
Sophomore Madison Goodman, Brennan and Counts combined for the shutout.

The Skinny: Bulldogs opened their 2013 seasonwith a 1-0 win at home against West Springfield. Senior defender Brendan Smedley scored off a throw-in from Eamon Finan two and half minutes into the second half to help lead the team to its opening season win. Senior goalkeeper Gene Yim came up big for Stone Bridge making several key saves in the second half to secure the victory.

The Skinny: Bulldogs report that senior Ashley Herndon started the scoring for the Bulldogs by scoring the first goal less than 3 minutes into the game. Her goal came off a pass from senior Murielle Tiernan. Herndon and Tiernan connected again in the 15th minute of the game for Herndon's second goal. Tiernan rounded out the scoring in the first half by scoring the third goal off a throw in from junior defender Megan Della Penna. West Springfield scored in the second half. The Bulldogs responded by scoring again. Della Penna crossed the ball into the goal area for Freshman forward Brigitte Deel to finish it. Great defense was played by Carson Cyphers, Ariana Alston, Briana Alston, and Corinne Giroux. Junior Goalkeeper Natalie Grundler recorded 2 saves.

The Skinny: Woodgrove reports that Ashley Bonner scored a hat trick and Brittany Basinger and Rhiannon Smith each scored a goal.

The Skinny: Briar Woods reports that they opened the season at Millbrook High School on cold chilly night coming out on top 3-1 . The offense had 3 different players who scored Elizabeth Reid , McKensey Ziegler and Emma Quirk . Rayven Conner had 2 assist and Nicki Batt had the other assist . The Falcons defense was lead by Lauren Kelly and Tori Panzica and also Nicki Batt . Goalie Tori Riopelle did a great job in the net for the Lady Falcons with 4 saves .

The Skinny: The Patriots report that they won their home opener 4-3 against Liberty High School. The Patriots took the lead 3 different times during the game and were in control of play for most of the game.

The Skinny: Raiders lax reports that Thursday, March 14th was a cold, cold day. Loudoun County Lady Raiders traveled to Heritage to take on the Pride for the Battle of the ‘Burg. The Raiders started strong and continued to dominate throughout the game, defeating Heritage with a score of 21-4. Scoring for the Raiders: Seniors, captain Haley Knudsen (8 g) and Jess Ku (1 g) Juniors Megan Norris (2 g), Alex Lord (1 g 2 a) and Julia DeBoard (4 g), Sophomore Erica Beal (1 g) and Freshmen Katie Orrison (1 g 2 a), Hannah King (2 g) and Jackie Rexrode (1 g).
