News: Loudoun County Sheriff's Investigates Incident Involving BB Gun in Broadlands Area

(March 8, 2013) - The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is investigating a report of an unknown subject discharging a BB gun at two children in the Broadlands area on March 7th.


The first incident involved an 11-year-old who was walking in the area of Heritage Oak Court and Ridgeway Drive around 4 p.m. when he heard a noise. The child was then struck by a BB gun pellet. The child told his family at the time of the incident that he saw a black pick-up truck, possibly a Toyota, in the area. The vehicle was occupied by a Black male in the passenger side of the vehicle.

Around 5:30 p.m. the victim's€™ sister told her family she was walking in the area of Ridgeway Drive when she heard what sounded like someone discharging a BB gun. She said she saw a black pick-up drive by and then turn around. An occupant in the car then pointed a BB gun at her through a passenger window but missed her. The driver of the vehicle is described as a Black male with a beard. The victim then ran to her home and told her family.

The incident was later reported to the Loudoun County Sheriff'€™s Office by the children'™s family. According to the family, the 11-year-old received minor injuries from the incident but did not require medical treatment.

On the morning of March 8th, the Loudoun County Sheriff'€™s Office also received a report of a child who saw a black vehicle pass her, turn around, and stop near her home off of Ridgeway Drive. The child ran inside of her home and looked outside and saw the vehicle was gone. It is unclear if this incident is related to yesterday's™s cases.

As a result of the incident, the Loudoun County Sheriff'€™s Office issued a lookout for the vehicle and added directed patrol to the area.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office continues to follow-up on several reports in reference to the incident that are being investigated by Patrol Deputies and members of the School Resource Officer Unit.
