Girls Volleyball: Two for the Show! Both Freedom, Stone Bridge Win Regional Titles, Now Host State Quarterfinals

Bulldogs: Back-to-Back!

(Nov. 14, 2011) - Both the Freedom and Stone Bridge girls volleyball teams came away with AAA regional titles on Saturday night, earning the right to host state quarterfinal matches on Tuesday.

Stone Bridge (27-2) won their 19th consecutive match and captured a second straight Northern Region title with a 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 25-20) over W.T. Woodson at Centreville High School. The Bulldogs, state runner-up last year, host Central Region runner-up James River at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Freedom (22-5) continued to add to its record season, winning a first ever regional title, taking the Northwest Region championship in a thrilling 5-set victory (25-22, 25-20, 10-25, 14-25, 15-9) on the road at Patrick Henry-Roanoke. The Eagles, with 11 straight wins, will host Eastern Region runner-up Ocean Lakes at 7 p.m. Tuesday in South Riding.

Woodson broke a streak of 40 straight set wins for Stone Bridge Saturday with a win in set 2 but Stone Bridge bounced back and took a tight set 3 to take control of the match.

Freedom: First Ever Regional Title for Eagles!

The Eagles will soon be raising a regional banner!

Kaitlyn LaMantia, Kayleigh Kennedy and Jasmine Jackson led the Eagles to their first ever Volleyball Regional Championship last night over Patrick Henry in a 5 game thriller in Roanoke VA. Kaitlyn LaMantia had 10 kills, 22 assists, 3 aces and 2 blocks. Katleigh Kennedy and in ten kills and one block. Jasmine Jackson has 11 kills and one ace. Strong backrow was lead by Andrea Phung will 26 digs while her sister Courtney added in another 14 digs.
