News: Johnny Rockets Celebrates Thanksgiving with Residents of Local Homeless Shelter

(Nov. 23, 2011) - In the spirit of the holiday season, Johnny Rockets will be serving pre-boxed lunches to residents of the Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s Loudoun Homeless Services Center in Leesburg on Thanksgiving Day. Approximately 50-75 men, women and children will each receive a Turkey Single, Sweet Potato Fries, a slice of Apple Pie and bottle of water – with some lucky residents being handed their holiday-themed meals by Washington Redskin players Ryan Torain and Jammal Brown.


First introduced on July 30 at the team’s Training Camp at Redskins Park, the mobile restaurant provides a unique way to take Johnny Rockets’ warm, friendly service and feel-good atmosphere, literally, on the road. Its 22-foot kitchen and 14-foot trailer enable efficient food preparation and distribution, and the mobile restaurant format affords a new venue for consumers to experience the classic American fare guests have enjoyed in Johnny Rockets restaurants for the past 25 years.

Opened in 2003, the Volunteers of America Chesapeake’s Loudoun Homeless Services Center is a 44-bed shelter with an 89-day program offering intensive case management, life skills classes and children’s services along with basic necessities like food and shelter.
