Girls Lacrosse: Broad Run SR Heidi Smith Signs to Play at the University of Louisville

Ashburn (Dec. 26, 2012) - Broad Run High School held a college signing on December 11th, 2012 for one of its most talented players to come through the Spartan girls lacrosse program in years. Senior Heidi Smith has committed to play NCAA Division I lacrosse for the University of Louisville Cardinals in Kentucky.

Smith has started for the Spartans since the day she stepped on the lacrosse field at the Broad Run campus. As a freshman she started at lower defense and as her career blossomed she became the focal point of the team as its starting center of the past several years.

In 2012, Smith led the Spartans back into the Regional’s for the first time since 2009. She led the team with 72 goals and 20 assists. Her game was not just on the offensive end.

Her coach Sean Duritsa said: “She is the best all around player in the county, region, and beyond. There is nothing on the lacrosse field that she cannot do! She is equally talented on offense as on defense, she does everything great. Heidi is a true leader on and off the field.”

Ashburn (Nov. 25, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School senior Kayla Sleece, who coach Kristin Howards says will hold just about every Bulldog girls lacrosse record before she graduates next summer, has officially signed to play for NCAA Division I University of the Louisville.

Sleece scored more than 40 goals and had more than 40 assists last season as she helped the Bulldogs to a 14-5 record and regional appearance. Sleece had five first-half goals as Stone Bridge nearly knocked off power Woodson in the regional quarterfinals, falling late, 11-9.

Girls Lacrosse: Stone Bridge to Hold Signing Ceremony for Kayla Sleece, Headed to Louisville

(Oct. 31, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School will hold a college signing ceremony Nov. 22 for senior Kayla Sleece who will ink her National Letter of Intent to play lacrosse next year at NCAA Division I University of the Louisville.

The 4 p.m. ceremony will take place in the school's library. Sleece set a school record for goals in a season in 2011 with 72 scored. She is also the current girls Lacrosse record holder in ground balls, assists in a game, and forced turnovers. In March 2011 Kayla Sleece was selected as Cheers Sports/VivaLoudoun.com Athlete of the Month.
