Girls Lacrosse: Woodgrove Goalie Bailey Carver Named Dulles District Player of the Year

(May 10, 2013) - Woodgrove High School senior goalie Bailey Carver, who helped the Wolverines to a third straight AA Dulles District girls lacrosse title, has been named the district's Player of the Year in a vote of the coaches. Tuscarora's Anna Kate Collier, who has the Huskies in the district tournament semifinals, was named the Coach of the Year.

    I find it odd that the number 2 team in the district (Valley) has half as many players on the all district teams as the number 5 team (BWoods). Not sure who gets to vote on this, but it clearly must be someone with an agenda.

    All Dulles District teams are voted on by the varsity coaches themselves in a group meeting

    As Dan mentioned, they are voted on by the coaches, but are heavily based on stats. If a team is not good about tracking the individual player stats, then the girls are harder to place.

    Also, keep in mind that some coaches are more domineering than others and will tend to get their way a bit more often.
