Gymnastics: Loudoun County Opens Season with Strong Showing at 6-Team Heritage Meet

Leesburg (Dec. 15, 2011) - The Loudoun County High School gymnastics team opened the 2011-12 season strong Wednesday night as the Raiders scored 132.675 points to take a 6-team meet at Heritage.

Tuscarora was 2nd with 121.850. Woodgrove was 3rd 120.20. Briar Woods was 4th 117.650. Loudoun Valley was 5th 112.425. Heritage with it's lone gymnast was 6th with 12.60.


Loudoun County senior Jessica Drews led the Raider team with 1st place finishes in the all around, vault, beam, floor and a 3rd on bars.

Sophomore Hannah Powell placed 5th in the all around, 4th on floor, 5th on vault, 6th on bars,6th on beam.

Freshman Victoria Miner placed 3rd in the all around, 3rd on beam, 1st on bars, 5th on vault, 5th on floor. Woodgrove's Amanda Huebner tied with Miner on the bars with both scoring 8.550.

Contributing to the team scores were Annie Asai on vault, beam and floor (7th); Amanda Spencer scoring a personal best on floor 8.250; Karys Gettier competing in her 1st high school meet on bars and floor; Bridget Gambogi on Bars and beam; Kathleen Huie on Bars.

The team will next be in action at the Battlefield "Battle against Cancer" meet on Saturday, December 17 starting time 11 a.m.
