Sterling (Aug. 22, 2011) - Potomac Falls High School senior Gregory Graves, who helped the Panthers to back-to-back VHSL Division 4 boys basketball state titles, has already hauled down four college offers with more schools taking interest in the 6-foot-7 talented player.
Graves, who has generated buzz this summer while playing with the Richmond-based Team Loaded AAU squad, holds offers from Longwood University, Manhattan College, Mount Saint Mary's and Northeastern.
"We are excited about the way everything is shaking out," said Panther coach Jeff Hawes. "He has been playing on the wing this summer, shooting the ball better and hitting some 3's."
Graves continues to grow and could reach 6-8 or 6-9 in college.
"What excites people is that he can go inside or outside on both sides of the floor," said Hawes.
Graves summer of AAU basketball has taken him from Myrtle Beach to Milwaukee to Las Vegas.
"Las Vegas was my favorite," said Graves. "PLaying for Team Loaded this summer has been fun."
Graves, who has played in the post in high school, said the move to the wing was "a challenge in the beginning" but now he is getting more comfortable away from the basket.
"It is becoming easier and coaches have said that is the position I would play in college," said Graves.
Other schools that have shown an interest in Graves include St. Bonaventure, Appalachian State, Hofstra, ODU, Radford, UNC-Greensboro, UTEP and Oregon State.
Graves says he is keeping an open mind and will be looking closely at the education side of things where he plans on majoring in criminal justice. Come this winter, he will have the challenge of being the lone returning starter from the back-to-back state champions.
"It's going to be a challenge. It's not going to be easy but it's a challenge I'm up for," said Graves.
