Golf: Stone Bridge Edges Fairfax by a Stroke in 9-Hole Contest as Ashley Shoots 1-Under 35

(Aug. 30, 2011) - The Stone Bridge High School golf team got a 1-under par performance from junior Matt Ashley Monday at Twin Lakes as he shot a 35 for nine holes and the Bulldogs needed that 1-under as they edged Fairfax by a stroke, 157-158, for the Liberty District dual victory.

The match continued a trend of tight matches and low scores for the Bulldogs. Stone Bridge is 2-1 with a 2-stroke loss to Madison, a 5-stroke win over TJ and Monday's down-to-the-last-putt outing. Impressively, the Bulldogs have not only set a school record with a 155 for nine holes this year but are averaging 156 in their three duals.

Backing up Ashley Monday were junior Anthony Kelly and Joe Karasinski, both at 39 and another junior,
Arianna Israel, carded 44.
