Marshall 2, Stone Bridge 1
The Skinny: The Lady Bulldogs were defeated in a heartbreaker to district opponent Marshall by a score of 2-1. This was the fourth 1-run loss for Stone Bridge this season. Both teams managed their way out of baserunner jams in multiple innings. Marshall scored their winning run in the bottom of the 6th.

Potomac Falls 5, Loudoun Valley 3
The Skinny: The Potomac Falls Panthers, for the second time this season, defeated non-district opponent Loudoun Valley 5-3. The Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead with a big 4th inning. Sophomore Lauren Fulcher, who continued her hot hitting streak (3-for-4 tonight and 7-for-9 the last two games), started things off with a single up the middle followed by junior Heather Kiefer's single to left field and senior Courtney Sunderland's walk to load the bases. Junior Ashley Lamb drove in the first run with an infield RBI-single, followed by senior Bonnie Pascal's 2-run single down the right field line, and finally junior Erin Frasca's RBI sacrifice bunt. The Panthers got an insurance run in the 5th inning when Fulcher reached based on a bloop single to left, advanced to second on an infield error, and scored on Sunderland's RBI-double to centerfield. Panthers pitcher Kiefer held Loudoun Valley scoreless through the first five innings before they scored in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back hits. The Vikings scored two more unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning before Kiefer struck out the final two batters to end the game. Kiefer limited the Vikings to six hits while striking out 10 and walking 2.

Briar Woods 6, Fauquier 0
The Skinny: Briar Woods scored all of its six runs in the fifth inning to break open a scoreless game en route to a 6-0 win over host Fauquier Wednesday night in Warrenton.
Briar Woods (6-1) managed just four hits and stranded five runners over the first four innings before finally breaking through in the fifth. Junior Alex Fierszt started the rally by reaching on an infield single, and junior Kristina Karagiorgis walked one out later. Both runners then moved up on a wild pitch, and sophomore Macy Jones came through with an RBI single to plate Fierszt with the game's first run. Jones advanced to second on the throw home, and a wild throw to second to get Jones allowed Karagiorgis to sprint home as well.
Senior Kate Fowler singled to score Jones and give Briar Woods a 3-0 lead, and, after a single by junior Kasey Ball, Fowler scored on a passed ball. Ball advanced to third on the passed ball and then trotted home when the throw from the catcher to the pitcher covering home plate rolled into the infield.
Briar Woods capped the scoring when freshman Lynn Brantley drew a two-out walk and later scored on a triple by senior Hayley Olson.
Fowler picked up the win after allowing just two singles, striking out six and walking one in five innings of work. Jones struck out five of the eight batters she faced over the final two innings.
The Briar Woods defense was outstanding all evening. Junior catcher Jillian Olson made a diving catch of a foul popped up bunt and also threw out two runners trying to steal. The Falcons also turned a key double play in the fourth to keep the game scoreless; Fauquier had a runner at second after a lead-off walk and a sacrifice bunt, but Briar Woods senior Holly Dominguez fielded a grounder to short and threw to Jones at first for the second out, and Jones fired a strike to third baseman Hayley Olson, who planted an inning-ending tag on the runner trying to advance from second.
The Falcons return to action Friday when they visit Park View in a showdown between two teams that are undefeated in the Dulles District.

The Skinny: The Loudoun County Raiders played a rare twi-night doubleheader versus the Kettle Run Cougars on April 14th. Unfortunately the Raiders were swept by the Cougars by 6-2, 6-4 scores. Freshman Kiley Jacobus led the Raiders at the plate going 3-7 for the evening with a double, triple, 3 Rbi's and 2 runs. She was tagged with the loss though in the first game. Erin Ertel also had a solid night as she went 2-5 with 2 runs and an Rbi. Also with hits for the Raiders on the chilly evening were Katie Graff with a double and a run scored, Katelyn Packard, who also had a Rbi, Senior Melissa Conway picked up her first hit of the season for the Raiders in the night cap. Alex Petruzzo and Kelley Duerbeck rounded out the hits for Loudoun County. This brings the Raiders to 4-4 (1-1 district) for the season. The Raiders now take a much needed break after playing 4 games in 3 days and return to district action at Potomac Falls on Tuesday April 20th at 6 PM.

The Skinny: Pride win non-district match-up
Park View 18, George Mason 0 (6)
The Skinny: Park View’s Robin Heironimus threw her second no-hitter of the season, striking out 13 in a non-District contest against George Mason. The game was called in the sixth inning due to the mercy rule. The Patriots accumulated 15 hits in the contest, led by Sophomore Sam Thomas with four hits. Senior Sammie Gleason scored four runs. Brittany Griffin drove in three runs on two hits as did junior Ally Rupard. Rebecca Patton continued her clutch hitting as she drove in two runs to take over the team lead with nine RBIs in eight games. Sophomore Brittney Moore also scored two runs on the evening.
The Patriots host Dulles District co-leader Briar Woods on Friday evening at 6:00.
