Softball: Loudoun Storm 16U Red Wins National Title

Sterling (Aug. 7, 2012) - The Olympics in London are not the only place where gold medals are being won. A Loudoun county girls fast pitch travel softball team, the Loudoun Storm 16U Red, coached by JJ Merchant, just completed a 32-6-1 spring/summer season by winning the 2012 Amateur Softball Association 16U National Championship Eastern title.

They also finished as the Virginia state runner-ups in both ASA and USSSA age group tournaments. The ASA National Championship tournament, which this year was held in Sterling, had teams from across the eastern and midwest United States attend in the 16U and 18U age groups.

Softball: Fire and Ice 18U to Hold Tryouts

(Aug. 7, 2012) - Fire and Ice 18U fastpitch softball will hold tryouts for the 2012-13 season on the following dates:

Sunday, Aug. 12 (6 to 9 p.m.) at Park View High School
Wednesday, Aug. 15 (6 to 9 p.m.) at Park View High School
Saturday, Aug. 18 (6 to 9 p.m.) at Park View High School

Softball: 14U Shooting Stars Gold to Hold Tryouts

(Aug. 2, 2012) - Tryouts for the 2012-2013 14U Ashburn Shooting Stars Gold are planned for August 8 and 9 from 6:30-9:30 pm and August 11 from 9-noon at Stone Bridge High School in Ashburn. 

In the event of rain on any of the above dates, August 10 from 6:30-9:30 pm at Stone Bridge will be used as a rain make up day. Players are encouraged to attend as many of the tryouts as possible. Softball: 14U Loudoun Storm Red Takes Runner-up at Eastern World Series

Salisbury, Md. (July 30, 2012) -The 14U Loudoun Storm Red fast pitch softball team returned from a week-long trip to Salisbury, MD where they competed in and placed 2nd in the 14U “B” USSSA Eastern World Series. The World Series event consisted of 45 teams from NY, NJ, DE, MD and VA. The girls battled both a long list of very talented teams and the tremendous heat that is often a part of this tournament, to take home the runner-up trophy.

Softball: Revolution 18U Blue to Hold Tryouts in August

Softball: Fielder's Choice Adding 18U Team

(July 30, 2012) - Fielder's Choice Softball, which already has 12U and 14U "A" teams established, is expanding it's program to include a 18U team that will play two to three showcase tournaments and three to four local tournaments this fall. Tryouts are at Loudoun Valley High School in Purcellville: Sunday Aug. 5 (4-6 p.m.); Wednesday Aug. 8 (6-8 p.m.) and Sunday Aug. 12 (4-6 p.m.). Softball: Fire & Ice 18U Opens ASA National Tournament in Tennessee

(July 27, 2012) - The Fire & Ice 18U softball team opens play Monday July 30 at the ASA National Tournament in Johnson City, Tenn. 95 of the top 18U teams in the nation from all 48 states are in the elite field.

Fire & Ice play Team Power 94 from Kansas City, Mo. at noon Monday in Pool "J". The other side of the 4-team pool features the Georgia Fire Tudor vs. Team Akadema from Indiana.

(July 15, 2011) - the Loudoun Storm fastpitch travel softball team, which is celebrating 20 years of play in Western Loudoun, has scheduled tryouts for the Fall 2011 season.

All tryouts will be held at Woodgrove High School in Purcellville (36811 Allder School Road) from 6:30 to 8:40 p.m.

*10U - Aug. 2 and Aug. 3
*12U - Aug. 8 and Aug. 9
*14U - Aug. 10, Aug. 11 and Aug. 12
*16U - Aug. 4 and Aug. 5
*18U - Aug. 16 and Aug. 17

The 12U team is coached by Joe Spicer, who led the Woodgrove High School softball team to the AA state finals in June without any seniors on the roster of the first-year school.
