(May 21, 2012) - Loudoun Soccer will host more than 1,000 athletes ranging from age 8 to 18 at its annual tryouts for its travel soccer program next month, the latest sign of the advances in quality and competitiveness which have made Loudoun one of the fastest-growing youth soccer clubs in the Mid-Atlantic region.
"Currently we have 66 travel teams in the club, and we're expecting that's going to expand up to about 75 in the fall season, which we're excited about," said Mark Ryan, Loudoun's Director of Travel. "In the younger age groups, we have four travel teams in each age group, which is an unprecedented number for us, and really, for any club in the region."

Youth Sports - Loudoun Soccer Names Mark Ryan Director of Coaching for Travel
(April 11, 2011) - Loudoun Soccer Technical Director Darryl Gee announced Monday that Mark Ryan has been appointed as the Director of Coaching ‐ Travel.
Ryan, most recently the Director of Coaching for Great Falls Soccer, will report directly to Gee. Over the last few weeks, Ryan has been volunteering his time to support Loudoun Soccer for the coordination of the TTA and Travel program.
Gee said in a release: "He has been a terrific addition to our team and continues to impress me with his work ethic and his technical knowledge as prescribed by the USSF. He also has an extensive network of coaches which will be invaluable as we strive to increase the depth of our coaching staff."
Ryan has experience as both a player and a coach and brings a wealth of technical experience including:
• Certified USSF “B” license and USSF National Youth License.
• Head coach of VYSA Olympic Development Program (ODP) for the Northern Region.
• Assistant Coach with George Mason University (GMU) (NCAA Div 1 Men’s Program).
• Played for GMU and was the captain for 3 years.
• Youth professional player for Manchester United.
• He holds a B.A. in Communications and an M.A. in Sports Marketing, both from GMU.
More from Gee: "I am excited to have Mark join our technical team and have already started formulating a game plan to achieve one of our key strategic objectives for 2011 ‐ Improve Quality of Programs/Player Retention."
