Football: VHSL Football State Champions All-Time 1920-2010

(Dec. 8, 2011) - Briar Woods High School is shooting for it second straight Virginia High School League Division 4 state football title on Saturday against Christiansburg at Liberty University. The Falcons are trying to keep a streak alive of four straight Loudoun state football champions with Stone Bridge (2007), Broad Run (2008, 2009) and Briar Woods (2010) all raising banners. Music: Broad Run Marching Spartans Win State Championship

(Dec. 6, 2011) - The Broad Run High School Marching Spartans took first place on Nov. 5 at Glen Allen High School in the US Scholastic Band Association state championships. The Spartans are Virginia state champions for Class 2A, winning all captions: Best Percussion, Best Music, Best General Effect, Best Color Guard and Best Visual. Broad Run received a score of 92.35 -- just the second time in the Marching Band's existence that they scored above a 90. Their score was the second highest of all the Class A bands that competed on the afternoon.

Briar Woods Cheer Joins Select Company with State Title Three-Peat

(Nov. 15, 2011) - The Briar Woods High School competitive cheer team joins some select company as the Falcons become only the sixth Loudoun athletic program in history to capture three straight state titles.

Loudoun County girls volleyball and Broad Run girls soccer hold the record for Loudoun with four straight state championships with both schools looking to add to their active runs -- the Raiders open the AA state volleyball tournament tonight at home in their quest for a fifth straight state title and the Spartans in the spring will move up to AAA classification in quest of five straight.

Programs winning three straight besides Briar Woods cheer: Stone Bridge cheer (2004-06), Park View gymnastics (1988-90) and Broad Run softball (2007-09).

Eight different programs have won back-to-back state titles from Loudoun: Potomac Falls boys basketball (2010-active), Freedom girls basketball (2009-10), Broad Run football (2009-10), Park View gymnastics (1982-83), Park View boys soccer (1991-92), Park View softball (1989-90), Park View girls track and field (2007-08) and Loudoun Valley girls volleyball (2001-02).

Loudoun State Title Teams: All-Time List Updated

(June 14, 2011) - We have updated our Loudoun list of all-time Virginia High School League state champions and runner-ups by adding Briar Woods softball and Broad Run girls soccer to the list of champs and putting Woodgrove softball onto the list at runner-up.

And for the first time we have expanded the list with two new tabs: All-time individual state champs for such sports as track and field and swim and we have added those crowned VHSL state champs in non-athletic competitions such as debate and journalism.
