Football: Briar Woods QB Trace McSorley Game-by-Game

(Aug. 30, 2012) - Just one game into his junior season and Briar Woods High School quarterback Trace McSorley has already racked up career numbers including nearly 4,500 yards passing, almost 50 touchdowns in the air on his way to a 28-3 record as a starter and two VHSL Division 4 state titles.

McSorely, who tossed a school-record five touchdowns in the Falcons 42-14 season-opening win on Friday over Patriot, will face Broad Run this Friday in a showdown in Ashburn at 7:30 p.m. The Spartans are one of only three teams to beat McSorely and Briar Woods since 2010.

Briar Woods will enter the game Friday at Broad Run on a 15 game winning streak dating back to the Falcons season-opening loss last year to Broad Run, 14-0. The Falcons have won 26 of their last 27.

Football: Freedom Quarterback Gilmore Wins Class of 2014 MVP at Top Camp in Oklahoma

(Aug. 2, 2012) - Freedom High School junior quarterback Trent Gilmore got ready for the start of football this week with an MVP performance at the NUC Top Prospect National Invitational in Norman, Okla. in late July. Gilmore was named the Class of 2014 top quarterback at the camp.

Football: Tuscarora Sophomore QB Chris Riddle Making Headlines

Leesburg (July 30, 2012) - As varsity football starts with tryouts this week around Loudoun County plenty of storylines will emerge at the 13 area public high schools. At Tuscarora High School, all eyes will be on sophomore quarterback Chris Riddle who made plenty of headlines during the offseason including being ranked the Class of 2015 No. 2 signal caller from the Southeast Region by 5-Star Quarterback Competition.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Riddle still has some growing to do with his grandfather standing 6-7. Riddle, who played for the Stone Bridge High School freshman team last year, is at Tuscarora this season after his family moved in February to the Huskies district.
