Softball: Loudoun Athletes Selected to VHSCA All-Star Game

Ashburn (May 1, 2012) - Briar Woods High School senior Macy Jones, Woodgrove seniors Allie Reid and Courtney Bogan and Park View senior Samantha Thomas have been selected to play in the Virginia High School Coaches Association Softball All-Star Game July 12 at Christopher Newport University in Newport News. Loudoun County senior Renay Aubel has been chosen as an alternate.

Jones and Co. will play for the East Team, and Briar Woods head coach Jennifer Traina and Woodgrove head coach Joe Spicer will serve on the East Team’s coaching staff.

Band: U.S. Army All-American Marching Band Selects Stone Bridge Drummer Racanelli

(Nov. 1, 2011) – Stone Bridge High School drummer Andre Racanelli has been selected to be a member of the 2012 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Racanelli will join an elite group of musicians who will perform during halftime of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, and will be presented by American Family Insurance.

Volleyball: Stone Bridge's Beckham Earns MVP Honors as She Leads West over East in VHSCA All-Star Match

(July 15, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School recent graduate Christine Beckham was honored with the MVP award for her efforts that led the West over the East in the Virginia High School Coaches Association all-star volleyball game Thursday at Christopher Newport University in Newport News.

The 25-21, 25-9, 25-23 win was the first for the West since 2004.

Loudoun was also represented by Amy Christensen (Stone Bridge), Taylor Maddox (Loudoun Valley), and Brittany Brown (Loudoun Valley) on the West squad, and Kathleen Horvath (Loudoun County) on the East squad. The West coaches included Stone Bridge's own Jill Raschiatore.

Football: Stone Bridge's James "Poohster" Johnson Ready to "Rumble"; Bulldog Senior Tracy Chichester Jr. to Play at Ferrum

(May 19, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School senior lineman James "Poohster" Johnson is set to "rumble" on June 12 as he has been selected for the Northern Region roster of the Second Annual Regional Rumble all-star football game at South County High School.

The game pits the top seniors from the Northern Region against the Northwest Region. Last year's game drew 1,300 fans and was won by the Northern Region in overtime. Johnson will play in the fall  at Christopher Newport.

Johnson's Bulldog teammate, Tracy Chichester, Jr., a 6-foot-3, 250-pound lineman will play next year at Ferrum. Chichester will join a growing list of Loudoun players on the NCAA Division III team's roster as it included in 2010 Chris McCalla (Heritage), Tavis Henry (Briar Woods), Anthony Wiley (Loudoun County), Mike Girdy (Stone Bridge), and Ricky Simmons (Loudoun Valley).

Boys Soccer: Park View's Herrera and Rosales Picked for VHSCA All-Star Game

Sterling (May 12, 2011) - Park View High School boys soccer seniors Jose Miguel Herrera and Eric Rosales have been selected to play in the 2011 Virginia High School Coaches Association All-Start game scheduled for July 13.

Football: Loudoun Valley's Ross May Selected to Play in Televised All Star Game at Rutgers; Will Play for University of Charleston Next Year

Purcellville (May 14, 10) - Loudoun Valley High School senior Ross May has been selected to play in the New Jersey vs. Northeast Football Classic to be held on June 6 at Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, N.J. May will be a member of the Northeast All Star Team coached by Mark Schmidt who is the Head Coach at Neshamany High School in Penn.
