College Corner: Broad Run Grad Judy Betz Inducted into Leadership Honor Society at Wagner College

(Nov. 10, 2011)- Judy Betz, Broad Run High School class of 2009 grad, was inducted into Wagner College’s chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) on Oct. 28, 2011.

ODK is the oldest and most prestigious college and university leadership honor societies in the country and was founded at Washington and Lee University in 1914. Betz, a junior, is majoring in Biology with a minor in enviornmental science and has been the starting pitcher for NCAA Division I Wagner softball squad since her freshman year.

College Signing: Stone Bridge Softball Seniors Lewis and Prince to Play NCAA Division I

Ashburn (Mar. 29, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School softball is ranked in the Top 10 in the Washington, D.C. area and a big reason is the senior leadership of two athletes that will play at the NCAA Division I level next year -- catcher Beth Lewis and shortstop Cori Prince.

Lewis will play at Wagner and Prince will play at George Mason. Both were honored by family, teammates and friends Friday in a signing ceremony at Stone Bridge.

Softball: Stone Bridge Catcher Lewis Signs to Play at Wagner College

Ashburn (Nov. 17, 2010) - Stone Bridge High School catcher Beth Lewis signed her NCCAA Division I Letter of Intent to play softball at Wagner College on Nov. 12.

Wagner, located in New York City (Staten Island), is part of the Northeast Conference. After considering several collegiate programs, Lewis chose Wagner because of its strong academics, location, and campus aesthetics. Coached by Glen Payne (16 years), the Wagner College softball Seahawks have been recognized by the NCAA for exceptional graduation and academic performance.

Lewis has earned numerous awards in both academics and athletics throughout her years at Stone Bridge High School. She is a member of the National Honor Society, National Math Honor Society, and a SBHS Student Leader (selected by teachers, administrators and coaches). Her athletic honors include All-District, MVP, and Scholar Athlete awards. Lewis is the starting varsity catcher, clean-up hitter, and a strong team leader for the Bulldogs.

She plays travel softball for the Ashburn Shooting Stars Gold. Off the field, Lewis plays electric guitar in the high school Jazz Ensemble, volunteers for various organizations, and enjoys basketball, music, and writing.

(Oct. 15, 2010) - Stone Bridge High School senior catcher Beth Lewis has accepted a scholarship offer from NCAA Division I Wagner College and will be joining the Seahawks next fall.

Wagner, located on Staten Island in New York City, plays in the Northeastern Conference.
