Swim: USA Swimming Bans Loudoun-Based Swim Coach Michael Pliuskaitis

(Feb. 18, 2013) - The Washington Post reported over the weekend that Michael Pliuskaitis, formerly the head coach at Loudoun County-based SNOW Swimming, has been placed on USA Swimming's permanently banned list resulting from rules violations relating to improper conduct with athletes.

Swim: Park View Grad Kerico and Heritage Grad Wright Named USA Swimming Scholastic All-Americans

(Sept. 29, 2010) - Two recent graduates, Park View High School's Amber Kerico and Heritage's Geoffrey Wright were named to the 2009-10 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American team.

Kerico also swims for the Ashburn Blue Waves and Wright swims for Snow Swimming.

Each year, USA Swimming recognizes its members who excel both in the classroom and in the pool. The Scholastic All-America Team is made up of high school student-athletes who have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher and who have achieved the required time standard in a single event.

To be eligible for this recognition, swimmers must have completed 10th, 11th or 12th grade and must be a USA Swimming member athlete.

Last year, over 1,500 student-athletes made the grade, led by National Teamer and 400m IM National Champion, Dagny Knutson, who was not only perfect in the pool, but posted a 4.0 GPA as well.
