Girls Tennis: Woodgrove's Lampl to Play at MIT Next Year

(May 28, 2012) - Woodgrove High School senior Sunnie Lampl, who took the last two Dulles District titles, will play next year at NCAA Division III MIT. While Lampl still has to tryout for the team at the prestigious academic  institution she is being listed by the MIT coaching staff as a commitment so expect the talented Wolverine to be on the courts next year for the Engineers.

Lampl's commitment brings the Class of 2012 to 196 Loudoun athletes total with plans to play at the college level next year.

Purcellville (May 5, 2012) - The Woodgrove High School girls varsity tennis team won the Dulles District regular season title after finishing the year undefeated at 16-0. Wolverine team captain Sunnie Lampl did not lose a match throughout the season at No. 1 singles.

On Friday May 4, a District victory flag was raised above the school in honor of the perfect season. Principal Dr. Edgar Markley said the girls were “inaugurating a new thing here at Woodgrove.”

Girls Tennis: Woodgrove's Sunnie Lampl is Region II Singles Runner-Up

Charlottesville (June 2, 2011) - Woodgrove High School freshman tennis sensation Sunnie Lampl just missed qualifying for the VHSL AA state tournament as she couldn't convert on two match points and fell to James Woods senior Headley Wilson in the Region II singles finals, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4).

It was Lampl's first loss on the season. Lampl and her Woodgrove doubles partner lost in the regional semifinals to end their season as well.
