College: LC Juniors Make College Choices Early - Mackey to Play Soccer at Longwood and Kirby to Play Volleyball at Queens University of Charlotte
Leesburg (Apr. 7, 2011) - Loudoun County High School athletic director Ken Wright announed two college verbal commitments for current juniors: Alana Mackey will play soccer at NCAA Division I Longwood and Katrina Kirby will play volleyball at NCAA Division II Queens University of Charlotte.
Mackey was an integral part of the 2010 AA State Runner Up team and currently is a captain on the 2011 squad.
Kirby has been a member of the 2009 and 2010 state championship volleyball teams.

Softball: Potomac Falls Catcher Sunderland Commits to Play for Queens University in Charlotte
Sterling (Mar. 22, 2010) - Potomac Falls High School senior Courtney Sunderland has made a commitment to play for NCAA Division II Queens University of Charlotte in Charlotte next year.
The Queens Royals are reining conference champions in the Conference Carolinas and Sunderland reports she "is very excited to play for the Royals [starting in the] 2010-2011 season."
Sunderland has been the Panthers starting catcher since her freshman year and was named a team captain in her junior year. Her leadership behind the plate, and at the plate, helped the Panthers to their best record in school history last season.
She was voted second team All-Dulles District Catcher her sophomore year, first team All-Dulles District, first team Loudoun All-Extra Catcher, and Washington Post All-Met Honorable Mention her junior year.
Sunderland also received the "Unsung Hero Award" her sophomore year and the "Coaches Award" her junior year. Sunderland currently holds three single season school records. and plays club ball for the Ashburn Shooting Stars 18U Gold.
