Basketball: Updating the Region II Division 3 Basketball Possible Match-ups

(Feb. 17, 2012) - If you think the process for seeding the Region II boys and girls basketball tournaments is crazy, remember that the athletic directors rejected a proposal that called for all region teams to board buses on the first playoff night ... proceed to a pay telephone and follow instructions to a gym to play ... of course, the fact that there are no more pay telephones left in the U.S. defeated this plan.

What we have then, is Jeremy "Hoops" Huber ... a humble prognosticator who could be called Dr. Huber as he earned a PhD in bracketology from the University of Hoopsville ... Huber emerged late last night again from his glass-enclosed bubble located under the Potomac River and predicted not only six more weeks of high school playoffs but the following update for Region II Division 3 boys and girls brackets:

The Good old Jefferson District seems to be throwing a monkey wrench into my predictions! I saw tonight on twitter that @scrimmageplay has "confirmed" that the Western Albemarle-Charlottesville, Jefferson District boys final on Friday night is "win and your in" in regards to regionals with Monticello already in; I assume then that they go off the following model for rankings ... regular season winner, tournament winner, regular season results ... if that's the case, then it would play out like so (we'll assume a high seed - Western Albemarle - wins):

Division 3 – Boys
#1 Fluvanna – #8 Warren Co.
#2 Liberty - #7 Monticello
#3 Handley - #6 Woodgrove
#4 Fauquier - #5 W. Albemarle

In the Daily Progress game story, they said that the Charllotesville Girls are in with a win over Monticello in the title game (I'll assume they're out with a loss); if Monticello does win Friday we would get the following

Division 3 – Girls
#1 Liberty - #8 Brentsville
#2 Woodgrove - #7 W. Albemarle
#3 Monticello - #6 Handley
#4 Warren Co. - #5 Tuscarora

Jeremy then returned underground ... noting that he hopes this ends soon since the sweater vest he is knitting for Rick Santorum is nearly finished.

Basketball: Jeremy "Hoops" Huber Updates His Region II Bracket Predictions

(Feb. 15, 2012) - In an undisclosed bunker hidden in the last undeveloped acre in Loudoun County (oops, that might have given it away ...) VivaLoudoun has sequestered Jeremy "Hoops" Huber in a room with nothing but Region II basketball stats, a shortwave radio, a 1965 Loudoun County yearbook, a Jeremy Lin photo and a case of Ramen noodles.

Huber emerged after midnight late Tuesday night (to howl at the moon but we won't talk about that ...) to update his predictions for the boys and girls basketball Region II Division 3 and Division 4 brackets.

Huber said he was getting more confident on his picks (but that he had no explanation for Nicki Minaj's performance Sunday ...) but please do not book any flight plans to Fluvanna until your AD says your team is in the playoffs ...
