News: Record Turnout for GSA Walk for Shelter

(Sept. 17, 2012) - The 2012 GSA Walk for Shelter kicked-off at Douglass School pavilion on East Market Street in Leesburg Saturday with a record 492 men, women, students and children participating.

The 1.2 mile walk continued through historic downtown Leesburg. Special family activities following the walk included moon bounces, face painting and balloon animals. A free barbeque and grilled hot dog lunch was served by Common Ground Church (Leesburg) and Christ Community Church (Ashburn).

News: Good Shepherd Alliance Names Student Board Members

(Sept. 13, 2012) - The Good Shepherd Alliance (GSA) has announced its student board members for the 2012-2013 school year. Will Avdellas of Tuscarora High School has accepted the role of chair. He will be supported by Taylor Nelson (Broad Run High School) as vice chair of the GSA Youth Advisory Group.

News: Good Shepherd Alliances Selects Two Loudoun County Public School Seniors to Board of Directors

(Aug. 12, 2011) - Samuel Moore-Sobel (Stone Bridge) and Nicole Levinson (Loudoun County) are high school seniors selected to the 2011/2012 Good Shepherd Alliance (GSA) Board of Directors.

The young adults will have full voting privileges and serve on the GSA outreach committee working shoulder to shoulder with the Board of Directors to promote GSA homeless services and programs in all twelve Loudoun County High Schools.

(June 9, 2011)- The Good Shepherd Alliance in partnership with Loudoun County Public Schools has slectedf rising seniors Samuel Moore-Sobel from Stone Bridge High School and Nicole Levinson from Woodgrove High School as GSA new student members on the Board of Directors for the upcoming 2011-12 school year.

GSA's Steven D'Argenio: "We wish departing student board members Maryjacqueline Fox and Carleigh Wrobel the best of luck as they embark on their college careers. They will always remain part of the GSA family as we appreciate all the hard work they put into helping and raising awareness for the homeless and those in need in our County during the past school year."

News: Good Shepherd Alliance Youth Team Bake Sell Nets $500 to Help Homeless in Loudoun

(Dec. 28, 2010) - The Good Shepherd Alliance Youth (GSA) team held their first high school fundraiser for 2010-11 on Dec. 20 at the Broad Run vs. Potomac Falls varsity boys and girls basketball games. The GSA Youth team bake sale netted close to 500 dollars to help the homeless and those near homeless in Loudoun County.

The goods sold at the event were baked by the basketball players from the Broad Run High School team. Matching donations by individuals and businesses are being encouraged to increase the total raised by the high school students.

The Youth team comprises students from nine local high schools who will be holding similar social awareness and charity events in the upcoming months.

News: Second Annual Good Shepherd Alliance Broad Run High School Bake Sale Slated for Monday's Basketball Doubleheader with Potomac Falls

(Dec. 17, 2010) - The 2nd Annual Good Shepherd Alliance Broad Run High School Bake Sale will take place Monday Dec. 20 during the girls and boys varsity doubleheader with Potomac Falls. The girls play at 6 p.m. and the boys -- a match-up of two of the top teams in the area -- is scheduled for tip-off at 7:30 p.m.

The event raises funds and spreads community awareness about Loudoun neighbors in need.

News: Good Shepherd Alliance Youth Committee Meeting Scheduled for Oct. 13

(Oct. 7, 2010) - There is a Good Shepherd Alliance Youth Committee Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 13th, at 7 p.m. at the GSA office on Ashburn Road (in the same building as Hope's Treasures Thrift Store).

News: Local High Schools Rally to Raise Awareness and Support the Homeless in Loudoun County

(Apr. 12, 2010) - The Good Shepherd Alliance Youth Committee held their 1st Annual Heart for the Homeless Music Fest on Saturday that attracted students from all high schools across Loudoun County in a common cause to help those in need in the community.

The idea of the Good Shepherd Alliance to partner with the youth and schools in Loudoun County started in the spring of 2009. The Board of Directors of the non profit Good Shepherd Alliance had a vision of tapping into the youth community to get them involved in the GSA's mission to help the homeless and those in need in Loudoun County.

Enter high school seniors Mandy Girolami from Briar Woods and Abby Chapelle from Loudoun County HS. After an extensive interviewing process of upper classmen from the majority of Loudoun County High Schools. Both Mandy and Abby were selected to serve one year BOD memberships working with guidance from Good Shepherd Alliance Youth Director Steven D'Argenio.
