Track and Field: Loudoun County's Patrick Joseph Runs 4:07.88 at Penn Relays - 3rd Place Finish is 4th Fastest Prep Time in U.S. this Year

(April 26, 2013) - Loudoun County High School senior Patrick Joseph's claim to be the greatest miler in Loudoun history was cemented Friday when he ran a 4:07.88 at the Penn Relays prestigious High School Boys' Mile Run Championship field.

Joseph's time was better than the previous meet record of 4:08.07 but he settled for third place as the race was won by Chantilly's Sean McGorty in 4:04.47 and Ben Malone of Hillsdale, N.J. ran a 4:05.59.

Joseph's time is currently the 4th fastest mile ran in the U.S. this year by a high school runner.

    Doesn't take anything away from Patrick, but it's the fifth fastest time of the year. Ben Malone, the guy who took second, ran a 4:05, which places him ahead of Patrick in the rankings.

    Milesplit is showing for Mile: Arroyo of FL at 4:05.87 and then 2nd Saarel of Utah at 4:08.55 ... so I was thinking that would put McGorty #1, Malone #2, Arroyo #3 and Joseph #4 ... unless there was another time run today faster than Patrick's ...
