The Plains (Nov. 14, 2009) - The Potomac Falls High School girls cross country team took fourth place at the AA state meet ran Saturday on a muddy Great Meadows course and the Loudoun County girls weren't far behind, finishing sixth overall. LC senior Julie Strange ended her brilliant XC career with a fifth place run of 18:57.
Potomac Falls scored 114 points to finish behind winner Hidden Valle (40), Blacksburg (54) and Western Albemarle (95). After Brentsville at 126, finished Loudoun County at 147.
The meet was paced by a set of twins, Blacksburg sisters, Kathleen and Joanna Stevens who went 1-2 in 17:34 and 17:39.
The Panthers were led by senior Natalie Wright, 11th overall, at 19:22, and senior Christina Lee, a mainstay for four years on the area cross country scene, finished at 19:47. The rest of the Panthers included: sophomore Koeley Brady (20:12), senior Rachel Diniega (20:45), junior Rachel Hagen (20:40), freshman Ariana Staffen (20:53) and senior Chelsea King (21:51).
Behind Strange for LC was junior Becca Hinch (20:05), sophomore Kathryn Eder (20:43), junior Leslie Lyford (21:00), sophomore Shelby Rombach (21:04), sophomore Emily Seifert (21:10) and sophomore Devin Bowers (21:31).

Golf: Girls State Qualifier at Westpark Moved to Oct.19
The Zone 1 girls golf qualifier scheduled for Thursday, October 15 has been moved to 11:00 a.m., Monday October 19 at the Westpark Golf Club in Leesburg.
