News: Loudoun County Public Schools Class of 2013 Earns more than $34 Million in Scholarships

(June 28, 2013) - The Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Class of 2013 earned $34,931,604 in scholarships, an increase from the $28,824,730 earned by the Class of 2012.

Purcellville (May 22, 2013) - The Woodgrove High School Wolverine Athletic Booster Club announced their 2013 Athletic Scholarship recipients. The $1,000 scholarships are entirely funded by the annual "Fore the Wolverines" Golf Tournament which brought in over $10,000 in profits this year. 

Applications were scored on athletic accomplishments, GPA, leadership. community service, employment, honors and awards, and an essay.

This year's extremely talented and deserving Athletic Scholarship recipients are: Kevin Barr, Michael Lokie, Peter Volpone, Sam Weber, Olivia Becker, Maggie Buxton, Keira Hornyak, and Alexandra Juzbasich.

Also, Alexandra Guendert was awarded the Woodgrove Spirit and Leadership Scholarship, also valued at $1,000, for her display of Wolverine spirit and leadership throughout the community.

News: Holiday Bazaar at Dominion HS Nov. 17 to Raise Funds to Help Send Loudoun County Students to College

(Nov. 12, 2012) - The Hammond Foundation's annual holiday bazaar scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 17 at Dominion High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. will help raise scholarship funds to send Loudoun County students to college.

News: Potomac Falls Senior Kendall Wise Wins Well Fargo/VHSL Citizenship Award

Sterling (May 21, 2012) - Potomac Falls High School senior Kendall Wise has been named the 2011-12 Wells Fargo/VHSL Citizenship Award winner for AA female athletics.

Wise is one of six students to receive a $1,00 scholarship from Wells Fargo towards their college education. Selection criteria included applicants contribution to family, school or community, promotion of good sportsmanship and citizenship, participation in at least one VHSL activity and submission of a student essay. News: Profits from Loudoun Bluegrass Festival to Provide Scholarships for Local Students

Leesburg (April 4, 2012) - On May 12, 2012 the third annual Loudoun Bluegrass Festival will come to the Loudoun County 4H Fairgrounds, just outside Leesburg, VA, featuring great music, BBQ, open jam sessions, kids’ shows, workshops, and pickin’ contests with cash prizes.

The Loudoun Bluegrass Festival is presented by Rotary Club of Dulles International Airport. All profits help pay tuition for deserving local students who otherwise could not afford college.

Headlining the event will be Lonesome River Band. Band member Sammy Shelor was inducted into the Virginia Country Music Hall of Fame, was the Bluegrass Music Association Banjo Player of the Year, and most recently won the Steve Martin Award for Excellence which was presented on the David Letterman Show.

News: Virginia Athletic Trainers' Association Offering Scholarship Awards

(April 2, 2012) - The Virginia Athletic Trainers’ Association has established scholarship awards, which are presented to two graduating high school seniors who have indicated an interest in pursuing a career in the Allied Health Profession of Athletic Training.

News: 11 Area High School Students Eligible for Ashby Ponds Scholarships

Ashburn (Apr. 14, 2011) – At Ashby Ponds, there are over 90 high school students from Loudoun County and Fairfax County working for dining services, with 120 more on the waiting list. The students work in a variety of capacities including servers, restaurant assistants, services coaches, and utility workers, among others. In addition to gaining valuable work experience, the students may be eligible for a scholarship from Ashby Ponds. Students who work a total of 1000 hours during their junior and senior years, have no adverse disciplinary actions on their record, have at least a “C” average, and complete all application materials, may be eligible for a $1000 scholarship paid per year directly to the college or trade school of their choice.

News: Volunteer Loudoun Awards Scholarships to Graduating Seniors

(July 13, 2010) - The Volunteer Loudoun (VL) Board of Directors has selected the 2010 Student Volunteer Scholarship recipients. Through the Student Scholarship Program, graduating seniors in each Loudoun County public school and the C.S. Monroe Technology Center, as well as private school and home-schooled seniors, are eligible for at least a $500 scholarship. The program is funded each year by donations from Loudoun County businesses, civic groups and individuals.
