College Corner: Park View Grad Andrew Mason is Male Athlete of the Month for Garrett College Baseball

(May 7, 2012) - Park view graduate Andrew Mason is  Male Athlete of the Month for Garrett College DII NJCAA baseball team.  Head Coach Eric Hallenbeck says Andrew (Drew) Mason  is a big reason why the Garrett Lakers were 6-3 this month.  He’s hitting .387, driving in runs, and playing solid defense in the outfield. But more importantly, he is a teammate and has a real passion for the game. 

Here are a few of Coach Hallenbeck quotes about Andrew "He gives 100 percent every day"; “It’s the intangibles that Drew posses that make him an excellent player. Good teammate, unselfish, coachable, high athletic IQ, tremendous work ethic. He plays the game the way it should be played.” Hallenbeck also said Mason is not only a quality baseball player but a quality person as well.

College Corner: Park View Grad Brittany Griffin Named Softball Player of the Week for the RIT Tigers

(April 20, 2012) - Park View High School grad Brittany Griffin, third baseman/outfielder on the RIT softball team, was named the Liberty League Softball Player of the Week on Monday and the ECAC Upstate Player of the Week on Tuesday, for the week ending April 15, 2012. It is Griffin’s first weekly honors.

College Corner: Park View Grad Amber Kerico Swims her Way to Rookie of the Year

(March 2, 2012) - Park View High School grad Amber Kerico, a sophomore at D3 Mary Washignton, swam her way to the Rookie of the Year as Kerico and Marymount senior Anna Macedonia are sharing the 2012 CAC Women's Swimming Rookie of the Year award. It marks the first time since the award was added for the 1997 championship that co-winners were declared. 

Kerico, who helped lead UMW to its 22nd straight championship with five All-CAC honors, 400 medley relay, 100 fly, 100 breast, 800 free relay, 200 breast, is the 10th Eagle to win the award. 

A total of 33 athletes representing six of the seven teams participating in the championship were named to the 2012 All-CAC women's swimming team, including a conference-best 11 from team champion Mary Washington.

College Corner: Park View Grad Hayes Named All-Conference Football at DII Shepherd University

(Nov 21, 2011) - 2010 Park View High School grad Robert Hayes was named second team defensive tackle for NCAA DII Shepherd University football team. Hayes recorded 37 tackles with 25 solo stops. He had 16 tackles-for-loss (-76) with six sacks (-25). Shepherd, ranked 21st in the latest AFCA poll, finished the season with a 9-2 overall mark with a 6-2 record in conference play.
