Girls Basketball: Update on Eldredge Resignation at Freedom

Breaking News! Back-to-Back State Champion Girls Basketball Coach Jason Eldredge Will Not Return to Freedom

South Riding (Apr. 13, 2010) - The buzz at Freedom High School the past 24 hours is that back-to-back girls basketball state champion coach Jason Eldredge would not return for another season and that was confirmed this morning from both Elredge and in a release from the school's administration.

Freedom Athletic Director Matt Oblas sent the following release:

Varsity Girls' Basketball Coach Jason Eldredge will not return to coach the 2010-11 Freedom girls' basketball team. He resigned on Monday, April 12, after expressing his intention to coach other sports. Freedom has honored his request and will open the position of head girls' varsity basketball coach. Freedom will pursue applicants with a passion for girls' basketball and a desire to lead the program. The position will be posted on the Loudoun County Public Schools Web site in the near future.

There is already a Facebook group started by Freedom students to retain the coach with 233 people joining the "Bring Jason Eldredge Back!!!!!" page.

Eldredge is the only girls basketball coach the school has had since opening in 2005. He built the program from one win the first season into back-to-back state champions, winning the Division 3 title in 2008-09 and then capturing the Division 4 title this past season.

Girls Basketball: Freedom's Kelsey Buchanan Named VHSCA D4 State Player of the Year; Eldredge is Coach of the Year

(Mar. 22, 2010) - You know the drill, to the victor the spoils and none more well earned than Freedom High School's back-to-back girls basketball state titles which has senior center Kesley Buchanan being named the VHSCA Division 4 State Player of the Year and Eagle leader Jason Eldredge the D4 Coach of the Year.
