Briar Woods: Softball Stopped at Poquoson; Boys Soccer Falls at Jamestown in State Quarterfinals

(June 6, 2012) - The Briar Woods High School softball team's run to a second straight state VHSL AA championship came to an end as Region I champion Poquoson used a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a dramatic 1-0 win over the visiting Falcons in the state quarterfinals Tuesday.

The game featured two of the top pitchers in the state in Briar Woods senior left-hander Macy Jones and Poquoson senior right-hander Maggie Tyler, and each held the other's offense in check most of the game before the Islanders finally broke through.

Girls Volleyball: VHSL AA State Tournament Bracket

(Nov. 14, 2011) - Loudoun County High School opens its defense of a fifth straight Virginia High School League girls volleyball AA state title at home Tuesday against Chancellor at 7 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10 for the state tournament.
